ORDINANCE NO. 4 7 6 2
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
VACATING A PORTION OF S.W. HARRIS PLACE BETWEEN RAINIER
AVENUE SOUTH AND S.W. SUNSET BOULEVARD (REGIS, ET AL.;
VAC-97-002).
WHEREAS, a proper petition for vacating a portion of S.W. Harris Place between
Rainier Avenue South and S.W. Sunset Boulevard was duly filed with the City Clerk on or about
June 4, 1997, and said petition having been signed by the owners representing more than two-
thirds (2/3) of the property abutting upon such street sought to be vacated; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, by Resolution No. 3273 passed and approved on August
18, 1997, and after due investigation did fix and determine the day of September 8, 1997, at the
hour of 7:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of the City of Renton to be the time and place for
a public hearing thereon, and this public hearing having been continued to October 6, 1997, and
the City Clerk having given due notice of such hearing in the manner provided by law, and all
persons having been heard appearing in favor or in opposition thereto, and the City Council
having considered all information and arguments presented to it; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works and the Utilities Committee of the City of
Renton having duly considered said petition for said vacation, and having found same to be in the
public interest and for the public benefit, and no injury or damage to any person or properties will
result from such vacation;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The following described street, to wit:

See Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof as if fully set forth herein
be and the same is hereby vacated subject to an easement over, across, under and on all that
portion as described on Exhibit "A" in favor of the City. This easement is for the purpose of
constructing, reconstructing, installing, repairing, replacing, enlarging, operating and maintaining
utilities and utility pipelines, including, but not limited to, water, sewer and storm drainage lines,
together with the right of ingress and egress thereto without prior institution of any suit or
proceedings of law and without incurring any legal obligation or liability therefor. The City may
from time to time construct such additional facilities as it may require. This easement may be
modified if the existing utilities are relocated at the sole cost of the developer.
This easement shall run with the land described herein, and shall be binding upon the
parties, their heirs, successors in interest and assigns.
SECTION II. The City Council hereby elects to waive all fees, costs and compensation
required under current City Code for the filing, processing, appraisal, and transfer of property
usually paid by the petitioner.
SECTION III. This Ordinance shall be effective upon its passage, approval, and
five days after its publication.
A certified copy of this Ordinance shall be filed with the Office of Records and Elections,
and as otherwise provided by law.

SW HARRIS PLACE
STREET VACATION
That portion of SW Harris Place lying within a remaining right-of-way width of 23 feet, being 11.5
feet on either side of the existing centerline; said portion to be vacated more particularly described
as follows:
Commencing at the intersection of the centerline of Rainier Avenue (D.C. Mitchell Road)with the
centerline of SW Harris Place;
Thence South 75 degrees 24'47"West along the centerline of SW Harris Place, a distance of 314.78
feet to the TRUE POINT OF BEGINNING;
Thence continuing South 75 degrees 24' 47" West along said centerline, a distance of 12.75 feet;
Thence North 14 degrees 35' 13" West at right angles to said centerline, a distance of 11.50 feet to
the northerly margin of said SW Harris Place;
Thence North 75 degrees 24'47" East along said northerly margin, a distance of 220.77 feet, to the
beginning of a tangent curve to the left having a radius of 92.10 feet;
Thence along said curve through a central angle of 71 degrees 30'30", and arc distance of 114.95 feet
to a point on the westerly margin of said Rainier Avenue;
Thence South 03 degrees 57' 36" West along said westerly margin a distance of 156.64 feet to the
beginning of a non tangent curve to the left having a radius of 47.55 feet;the center point of which
bears North 86 degrees 05' 33" West;
Thence northwesterly along the arc of said curve through a central angle of 108 degrees 29'40" an
arc distance of 90.04 feet to a point of tangency on the southerly margin of said SW Harris Place;
Thence South 75 degrees 24'47" West along said southerly margin a distance of 200.51 feet;
Thence North 14 degrees 35' 13" West at right angles to said margin, a distance of 11.50 feet to the
TRUE POINT OF BEGINNING.
