RESOLUTION NO. 3397
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN
INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF RENTON AND
THE STATE OF WASHINGTON ENTITLED "A RENTON—WSDOT
UNDERSTANDING TO MANAGE TRANSPORTATION."
WHEREAS,the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and the City
of Renton both have transportation systems that affect and are dependent upon each other's
system; and
WHEREAS, both transportation systems serve a larger regional audience; and
WHEREAS, both agencies have an interest in providing safe and reliable travel; and
WHEREAS, both agencies are committed to continuing dialogue on transportation
issues; and
WHEREAS, WSDOT and the City of Renton have reached agreement on a number of
principles including limited ramp metering within Renton, but including several other topics of
mutual interest; and
WHEREAS, WSDOT and the City of Renton wish to reduce their understandings to
writing; and
WHEREAS, this writing is part of an ongoing relationship and the parties are continuing
to negotiate concerning the development of a multi-modal interchange at I-405 and N.E. 44th
Street in Renton; and
WHEREAS, the parties, contemporaneous with the signing of the interlocal agreement
authorized by this resolution, will be signing a letter of understanding regarding joint participation
in the development of a multi-modal intersection at I-405 and N.E. 44`'' Street in Renton;

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects.
SECTION II. The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into an
interlocal cooperative agreement with WSDOT entitled "A Renton-WSDOT Understanding to
Manage Transportation."
