HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 2812 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 2812 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR AN OUTDOOR RECREATION PROJECT TO THE INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION AS PROVIDED BY THE MARINE RECREATION LAND ACT (BOEING TRAIL I.A.C. ) . WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton, Washington, has approved a "Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the urban area which identifies a linear park on Lake Washington in the central part of the city; and WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land Act, state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and the construction of outdoor recreational facilities of local public bodies; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton considers it in the best public interest to develop a linear park in the central part of the city generally located at the mouth of the Cedar River on and/or over Lake Washington and north of the Boeing Commercial Airplane Plant. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects . SECTION II . The Mayor is authorized to make formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for funding assistance. 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2812 SECTION III. Any fund assistance so received be used in the development of a 3 .4 acre strip of land located in the central part of the City of Renton, Washington. SECTION IV. The city's share of the project will be derived from city General Funds in the amount of $86,500 . 00 . and a donated boathouse by The Boeing Company in the amount of $350, 000 . 00. SECTION V. The City of Renton does hereby certify that the city is responsible to support all non-cash commitments to the local share should they not materialize. SECTION VI. Any property acquired with financial aid through the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation shall be placed in use as an outdoor recreation facility and be retained in such use in perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed to by the " City Council, the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation, and any affected federal agency. SECTION VII . This resolution shall become part of a formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation. SECTION VIII . Adequate notification has been given and opportunity provided for public input. SECTION IX. The City of Renton does certify that the city has verbal commitments from the Department of Natural Resources that it will receive a permanent recreational easement for this project and a binding environmental commitment from The Boeing Company for a permanent recreational easement for this project, and based on current knowledge, provides assurance there are no encumbrances on the land which would restrict recreational use of the land as proposed in this application. 2 RESOLUTION NO. 2812 PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 20th day of August, 1990.
