HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 3188 city OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 3188 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, APPROVING A PRIORITIZED LIST OF PARKS, OPEN SPACE AND CRITICAL RESOURCES PROJECTS TO BE INCLUDED IN THE PROPOSED PARK AND OPEN SPACE BOND MEASURE. WHEREAS, the Metropolitan King County Council is considering the placement of a bond measure before the voters of King County for the purpose of acquiring and developing park and open space, and for the protection of the region' s critical natural resources; and WHEREAS, a portion of the proceeds from the bond measure are to be allocated as an entitlement to individual jurisdictions to provide park and open space facilities for its local residents based upon established criteria; and WHEREAS, the remaining bond funds would be made available to all King County jurisdictions on a competitive basis to protect and enhance the region' s critical natural resources; and WHEREAS, each local jurisdiction has been asked to submit a prioritized list of "Local Projects" that would be included in the bond proposal when it is presented to the voters, and also to submit applications for additional projects that would compete for county-wide funds in the "Critical Regional Resources" portion of the bond measure; and 1 RESOLUTION NO. 3188 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton, at its regular meeting on April 22 , 1996, approved by motion the prioritized list of local projects and competitive applications identified on Exhibits 1 and 2 (revised 4/18/96) attached hereto; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS : SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects . SECTION II . The Mayor is hereby authorized to make formal application to King County for those local and competitive projects identified and described in Exhibits 1 and 2 attached hereto for inclusion in the proposed Parks and Open Space Bond Measure. SECTION III. Should funding be provided for any or all of the projects identified herein, the City of Renton does hereby agree to maintain the lands and facilities provided through these funds in perpetuity, unless otherwise provided.
