RESOLUTION NO. 3222
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO A
UTILITIES COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND
KING COUNTY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF KING COUNTY'S
CASCADE SIPHON PROJECT AND THE CITY' S ROLLING HILLS 590
ZONE WATER MAIN CROSSING.
WHEREAS, the City of Renton plans to design and construct a
new water main to cross the Cedar River to convey water from the
Maplewood wells to the 590 zone reservoir; and
WHEREAS, King County' s present Cascade Siphon pipeline is of
insufficient capacity; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to construct a parallel sewer line
to replace the Cascade Siphon; and
WHEREAS, the County and the City have determined that a joint
project for the water line and sewer line crossing of the Cedar
River would minimize construction impacts, disturbances and
environmental impacts, and would be the most cost effective for
both agencies; and
WHEREAS, the City is willing to manage the construction of
the river crossing project subject to reimbursement by the County
for construction activities related to the County pipeline; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to document the agreements between
the City and the County;

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .
SECTION II . The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
to enter into a Utilities Cooperation Agreement by and between the
City of Renton and King County for the construction of King
County' s Cascade Siphon Project and the City of Renton' s Rolling
Hills 590 zone water main crossing.
