SEE "ADDITION TO" DATED OCTOBER 2, 19$l. ATTACHED. An Ordinance of the City of .Renton, Washington* adopting, establishing and defining a Building Code and. an Electrical Code for the City, to regulate the construction, alteration and moving of structures in the City, and electrical wiring and apparatus therein} creating a Building Department and the position of Building Official} requiring permit*j providing penalties for violations} and repealing con- flicting Ordinances and provisions. WHEREAS not less than three printed copies in book form of a Building Code entitled "City of Renton Building Code" and not less than three printed copies in book form of an Electrical Code entitled "National Electrical Code (Standard of the National Board of Fire Underwriters)", have heretofore been filed in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Renton for use and examination, by the public,, and it is deemed advisable to adopt same by reference, together with amendments thereof or additions thereto] now therefore, mi CITY COUNCIL OF TH?- CITY OF BEHTOIf IX) ORDAIH AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The said Building Code, entitled CHI OF' REUTON BUTLUIBG CODE, of which not less than three printed copies in boolp form have heretofore been filed in the office of tha City Clerk* is hereby adopted as a Building Code for the City of Ronton, and any and all amendments thereof and additions thereto when printed and filed with the City Clerk by authorization of the City Council shall be considered, accepted, be. and constitute part of such Code without the necessity of further adoption of such amendments or additions by the legislative authorities of the City or by Ordinance, - Section 2» The said Electrical Code entitled EILTIOKAL ELECTRICAL CODE (Standard of the National Board of Fire Underwriters), of which not less than three printed copies in book form have heretofore been filed In the office of the City Clerk, is hereby adopted, as an Electrical Code for the City of Renton, and any and all amend- ments thereof and additions thereto when printed and filed with the City Clerk shall be considered, accepted, be and constitute part of such Code without the necessity of further adoption of such amendments or additions by the legislative authorities of tlie City or by Ordinance. Section 3» By the references thereto made hereinabove, said Building Code and said Electrical Code together with any and all amendments thereof and additions there- to hereafter printed, and filed with the City Clerk as hereinabove specified, are incorporated, in and made a part of this Ordinance as fully and with the same effect as If set out herein In full, or as if adopted by subsequent Ordinance amendatory hereof. Section It. There is hereby established in the office-, of the City Engineer a Building Department, through which the City Engineer shall administer and execute the provisions of aforesaid Building Code, and Electrical Code. The City JSngineer shall designate an assistant as head, of such Building Department, who shall be known as the Building Official and who shall be a person qualified by training and experience in building construction. The term "Building Official" as used in this Ordinance shall mean the City Engineer and such designated assistant, or either of them, and such assistant shall have and. exercise all the powers of the City Engineer under this Ordinance and under said Codes, but shall be under the jurisdiction^ control and supervision of the Gity Engineer* The Building Official, as herein defined, shall have and exercise all the powers and duties vested in the Building Official by and under the provisions of aforesaid. Codes or any of them, or vested under the provisions of any of said Codes In the administrative authority referred to in such Codej and the Building Official shall require and enforce compliance with the minimum standards, specifications, and requirements set out in each of the afore- said Codes. Section >. Ordinsnce No. 1083 of the City of Renton is hereby repealed and all other Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance or of the said Building Code or said, '"lectrical Code are hereby superseded} -*t?£^e* -if-. / //-;,/. •> > -U.-J ORDINANCE W. 130? (See Ordinance j/1309)' provided that all prior Ordinances repealed by Ordinance Mo. IO83 shall be and remain repealed. Section 6. This Ordinance is adopted pursuant to Chapter 32, Washington Session Laws' of 1935* and subject to all laws of the State of Washington governing the subject matters of the aforesaid Codes, including Chapter 169 of the Washington Session Laws of 193? and any amendments thereof pertaining to electrical wiring. Section 7. This -Ordinance shall be in full force and effect five days after its passage, approval and lejgaX publication as provided by law.
