RESOLUTION NO. 3079
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN
INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE REGIONAL TRANSIT
AUTHORITY AND THE CITY OF RENTON FOR PLANNING FOR SITING
AND DESIGN OF COMMUTER RAIL STATIONS FOR THE TACOMA-
SEATTLE COMMUTER RAIL PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the Regional Transit Authority (Authority) is
undertaking planning for a commuter rail system between Tacoma and
Seattle known as the Tacoma-Seattle Commuter Rail Project; and
WHEREAS, state law requires interlocal agreements between the
Authority and local governments to assure that the land uses are
compatible with the development of a high capacity transportation
system; and
WHEREAS, the Authority desires to ensure that the siting and
design of commuter rail stations within and adjacent to the City and
uses associated with such rail stations are fully coordinated with
the City' s land use plans and traffic circulation; and
WHEREAS, such determinations are best made cooperatively
between the City and the Authority;
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .
SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
to enter into an interlocal agreement with the Regional Transit
Authority for planning for land use and traffic circulation in the
vicinity of commuter rail stations for the Tacoma-Seattle Commuter
Rail Project.
