RESOLUTION NO. 2977
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE AND
IDENTIFYING THE SOURCE OF MATCHING FUNDS FOR AN
ACQUISITION PROJECT AS .PROVIDED BY THE METRO SHORELINE
IMPROVEMENT FUND WITH THE MUNICIPALITY OF METROPOLITAN
SEATTLE (BLACK RIVER RIPARIAN FOREST) .
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton, Washington, has
approved a "Comprehensive Park, Recreation and Open Space Plan" and
"Trails Master Plan" for the urban area, which identifies open space
located in the southwestern part of the City; and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of a negotiated settlement related
to the :expansion of .the. West Point Treatment Plant, mitigation funds
to offset impacts to shorelines has been authorized and made available.
to . aid, in financing the cost of regional shoreline acquisitions and
improvements that -replace, . -_enhance or provide substitute environments
that provide shoreline for public access and use, and for wildlife
habitat; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton considers it in
the best public interest to acquire property in the southwestern part
of the City generally located along the Black River Riparian Forest;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I . The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .
SECTION II . The Mayor is authorized to make formal application
to the Municipality of Metropolitan Seattle for funding assistance.

SECTION III . Any fund assistance so received shall be used in
the acquisition of acreage located in the southwestern part of the
City of Renton, Washington.
SECTION IV. The City' s share of the project will be derived
from Open Space Bond Issue Funds and Conservation Futures Levy Funds .
SECTION V. Any property acquired with financial aid through
the Municipality of Metropolitan Seattle shall be placed in use as an
outdoor recreation facility or habitat conservation area and be
retained in such use in perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and
agreed to by the City Council, the Municipality of Metropolitan
Seattle, and any affected general agency.
SECTION VI . This resolution shall become part of a formal
application to .Municipality of Metropolitan Seattle
'SECTION VII. Adequate notification has been given and
opportunity provided for public input.
