RESOLUTION NO. 2997
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, COMMITTING
CITY MATCHING FUNDS AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO APPLY TO
THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION FOR BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
FUNDS, TO ACCEPT SAID AWARD AND TO SIGN ALL DOCUMENTS AS
ARE REQUIRED THEREFORE FOR ROAD IMPROVEMENTS ON MONSTER
ROAD BRIDGE NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF MONSTER ROAD AND
OAKESDALE AVENUE SOUTHWEST.
WHEREAS, the City has determined the need to undertake the
above-referenced project and has duly adopted this project as part
of its Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program; and
WHEREAS, the City deems it necessary to apply to the Federal
Highway Administration for a grant for this road improvement which
is located on Monster Road Bridge near the intersection of Monster
Road and Oakesdale Avenue Southwest; and
WHEREAS, the projected project cost for preliminary design is
$70, 000; and
WHEREAS, the City is applying for a Federal Highway grant of
$56, 000 and has budgeted $110, 000 of City funds; and
WHEREAS, various traffic mitigation funds are available and
eligible for use as its share of the matching funds through
construction; and
WHEREAS, the total project cost through construction for the
bridge replacement project is estimated at $1,400, 000 . 00, with a
total grant share of $1, 120, 000 . 00; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to adopt a resolution authorizing the
Mayor to sign the required grant documents and to certify the
availability of the City' s matching funds for the Federal Highway
grant;

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .
SECTION II. The Mayor is hereby authorized to make
application to the Federal Highway Administration for grant funds
for the current and subsequent stages of the above-noted
transportation improvements .
SECTION III. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
to accept said grant awards and to sign all documents as are
required therefore.
SECTION IV. The City hereby commits as matching funds for
the above-noted transportation improvements $108, 000 . 00,
acknowledging that the Monster Road Bridge replacement is an
eligible expenditure for the Grady Way Transportation Benefit Zone
funds, and that $172 , 000 . 00 of the funds designated for the Monster
Road Bridge replacement in the Rabanco traffic mitigation document
is currently in-hand and available for immediate disbursement upon
the award of the grant by the Federal Highway Administration.
