RESOLUTION NO. 2736
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO SIGN AN INTERLOCAL
COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH KING COUNTY AND OTHER SUBURBAN
CITIES ON SOLID WASTE.
WHEREAS, King County and the suburban cities have undertaken
negotiations to arrive at solutions to solid waste disposal issues,
such solutions being in the best interest of all .citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City of. Renton has been actively engaged in
negotiating a Model . Solid. Waste Interlocal Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Suburban Cities Association has served as a forum
for suburban city governments to share their concerns about issues
relating to the Model Solid Waste Interlocal Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Suburban Cities Association adopted a Resolution
at its regular meeting on June 8 , 1988, requesting certain changes
to the Draft Model Solid Waste Interlocal Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the City of Renton finds that those changes would be
in the benefit of the citizens of the City of Renton and are
equitable and further the goal of providing an equitable solution to
solid waste disposal issues that would be in the best interest of
all citizens, both municipal and county; and
WHEREAS, the Model Solid Waste Interlocal Agreement has been
amended to reflect the Suburban Cities Association Resolution, and
further amended by the City of Bellevue, which latter amendment

furthers the intent of the Suburban Cities Resolution. These
amendments have been accepted by King County, NOW THEREFORE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : The above recitals are hereby found to be true
and correct in all respects.
SECTION II : . The Mayor and City Clerk of the City of Renton,
Washington, are hereby authorized to sign the Model Solid Waste
Interlocal Agreement, as modified, to reflect the Resolution adopted-
by the Suburban Cities Association at its regular meeting on June 8,
1988, • and submit that agreement to King County.
SECTION III : Should King County refuse to accept the Model
.Solid Waste Interlocal Agreement as authorized herein, then the
Administration is directed to refer this issue again to the City
Council for consideration.
