CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO. 2633
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS the City of Renton has experienced unusually heavy
rainfall; and
WHEREAS that rainfall has caused certain serious problems
within the City of Renton especially on Talbot Road South just
west of the Springbrook Reservoir; and
WHEREAS that roadway has completely washed out approximately
where Springbrook Creek crosses the road; and
WHEREAS it is necessary to immediately repair that area to
prevent further damage, to permit access to the Springbrook Reservoir
and provide for normal traffic circulation in the general area;
and
WHEREAS such repairs cannot await the normal public bid process
NOW THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The above recitals are found to be true and correct.
SECTION II: There is an emergency due to unusually heavy rainfall
which has caused damage to Talbot Road South which must be immediately
repaired.
SECTION III: Because of this declaration of emergency the
public bid process will not be followed for work on Talbot Road South

in and around the damage previously described. The Public Works
Department of the City of Renton is hereby directed to negotiate
with an appropriate contractor or contractors for immediate repair.
City forces may be used, if necessary, if competent contractors are
not available or if available, the prices negotiated are clearly
unreasonable in the estimation of the Public Works Director.
