CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO. 2629
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
DECLARING A MORATORIUM ON GRANTING OF PLANNED UNIT
DEVELOPMENT APPROVALS.
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Renton has previously
passed legislation creating a Planned Unit Development Ordinance; and
WHEREAS that Ordinance has been in effect for several years,
and certain problems have become apparent, and
WHEREAS the present Ordinance through the Master Plan
procedure has permitted planned unit development approvals extensive
time periods; and
WHEREAS the present Planned Unit Development Ordinance
permits developers to develop only .a.1portion of the property within
planned unit developments and then abandon the project, and
WHEREAS, the Planned Unit Development Ordinance process,
in some instances, provides inadequate information to the ultimate
decision maker; and
WHEREAS the City Council has concern about the benefits of
the Planned Unit Development approach, as it is now constituted, and
WHEREAS the City Council wishes to study the Planned Unit
Development Ordinance without further damage to the City caused by
planned unit developments, and without unnecessary pressure, NOW
THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION I: The above recitals are true and correct in all
respects.
SECTION II: For a six month period of time ending June 30 ,
1986, there shall be a moratorium for further planned unit development
approvals for applications received after December 16, 1985.
