CITY OF RENTON , WASHINGTON
ORDINANCE NO. 3608
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING A PORTION OF SECTION 9-1108 OF TITLE
IX (PUBLIC WAYS AND PROPERTY) OF ORDINANCE NO.
1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF RENTON" RELATING TO SANITARY
SEWERS .
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : Existing subsection 14 of Section 9-1108 of
Title IX (Public Ways and Property) of Ordinance No . 1628 entitled
"Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" is hereby amended
as follows :
Section 9-1108 14, as amended: Sanitary Sewers
A. Major Subdivisions .- In the case of major subdivisions ,
the subdivision shall be provided with a completed sanitary sewer
system at no cost to the City .
B. Short Plat Subdivisions . Short Plat subdivisions shall
be provided with a complete sanitary sewer system at no cost to the
City nrovided that a public sewer main is located within 200 feet or
less of the nearest property line of the proposed subdivision. If
a public sewer main or other adequate means of common disposal is not
located within 200 feet or less of the nearest property line of the
proposed subdivision, the subdivider may provide for the installation
of an approved septic tank and disposal field system upon approval
in writing from the Health Agency and in compliance with the City' s
applicable ordinances . In such cases , a dry sanitary sewer line shall
be installed in the subdivision according to a sanitary sewer plan
for the subdivision approved by the Department of Public Works . Side
sewer lines shall be installed eight feet (8 ' ) into each lot . The
Hearing Exariiiner nav waive this requirement only if the area has
not been included in the Comprehensive Sewer Plan. The subdivider
shall submit satisfactory evidence of favorable percolation rates
comparable to the adopted requirements and standards of the Seattle-
King County Health Department prior to approval of a subdivision
dependent upon septic tanks as a means of sewage disposal . The
subdivider shall provide covenants running with the land satisfactory
to the City requiring the owners of the lots within the subdivision
to hook up to and pay their proportionate share of any later
extensions of a public sewer main adjacent to the subdivision.
C . Standards . The sanitary sewer system shall be designed
and installed according to the City standards and in accordance with
City standards and under the supervision of the Department of Public
Works .
SECTION II : This Ordinance shall be effective upon its
passage, approval and thirty (30) days after its publication.
