ORDINANCE NO. 3854
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING THE UTILITY TAX RATE AS IT APPLIES TO
THE PRIVILEGE OF CONDUCTING A TELEPHONE BUSINESS .
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I : The utility .tax presently in force for the
privilege of conducting a telephone business within the city limits
of the City of Renton is 7.225% . The 1982 Legislature by engross
Senate Bill No. 4972 , Section 4 , required the City to lower that
utility tax to the rate of 6% by means of alternative calculations.
The 1983 Legislature in Senate House Bill No. 263 modified the
decrease in utility tax and requires that the utility tax be reduced
. 175% , effective January 1 , 1985.
SECTION II : The City' s utility tax rate as it applies to
the privilege of conducting telephone business within the city limits
of the City of Renton shall be 7.05% , effective January 1, 1985, to be
reduced henceforth as required by the legislation detailed in Section
I above.
SECTION III : This Ordinance shall be effective upon its
passage , approval , and thirty days after publication.
