CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO. 2173
WHEREAS the City of Renton, Washington, has received a
request that the City initiate vacation of areas. designated "slip"
and "wharf" on the Lake Washington Shorelines Plat adjacent to the
Barbee Mill Site, and
WHEREAS the Community Services Committee of the City
Council has undertaken a review of similarily designated areas
on the remainder of the shoreline of the City of Renton, and
WHEREAS the City Council has concluded that the special
areas designated for "slip" and "wharf" are in conflict with the
City of Renton' s Comprehensive Plan, the Shoreline Master Program,
the Lake Washington Regional Shoreline Master Program, and residential
and recreational uses of the Lake Washington Shoreline, and
WHEREAS the City Council has further concluded that bed
lease log storage along the Lake Washington shoreline is in conflict
with the recreational use of the Lake, particularly as it relates
to boating and the boat launch ramp at Lake Washington Beach Park and
on the Cedar River, NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I : The above recitals and findings are found to be
true and correct in all respects .
SECTION II: The City Council of the City of Renton hereby
requests
recommends /and urges the Commissioner of Public Lands, State of
Washington, and the Department of Natural Resources to initiate proper
action to vacate the areas designated "slip" and "wharf" on the
Lake Washington Shoreline Plat (see attached map, and legal description)
SECTION III : The City Council of the City of Renton
further recommends and urges the Commissioner of Public Lands , STate
of Washington, and the Department of Natural Resources discontinue
bed lease log storage on the Lake Washington shoreline.
