CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO. 1963
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I : The subsistence, per diem rate for the following
designated officials , to-wit : Mayor, members of the City Council
and all other elected or appointed officials of the City is hereby
fixed at not to exceed $35 . 00 per day while traveling on City
business .
(a) Such rate however, shall not include cost of travel
or lodging while so engaged on City business . Any payment or
reimbursement for lodging shall be limited to the average rate for
a single room occupancy.
(b) The subsistence rate, per diem, for all other
regularly salaried employees of the City is hereby fixed at a sum
of not to exceed $25 . 00 while traveling on City business , but
excluding therefrom cost of travel and lodging while on City
business, and subject to the Limitations as set forth in
subparagraph (a) hereinabove.
SECTION II : Such subsistence allowances , as hereinabove
specified, shall only be paid when such official or employee, as
the case may be, is engaged in duly authorized City business and
for no other purpose or purposes .
(a) All claims for payment of such subsistence rate shall
be supported by proper vouchers and other supporting documents as
further provided by Chapter 74 Session Laws of 1969 .
SECTION III: In case of all salaried employees , the proper
department head shall determine when an employee should be authorized
to attend meetings , conventions and other activities relating to
official City business .

(a) In case of members of the City Council , boards or
commissions of the City, a majority vote of the members of
such bodies shall determine the authorized attendance at such
official meetings , conventions and related City activities ,
except however that in the event of out of state travel by any
such official, authorization therefore must be passed upon by the
Finance Committee of the City Council prior to any final action
by the City council .
(b) Whenever possible preference shall be given to those
officials of the City' s staff and the Council ' s committee who are
primarily and directly concerned with the particular subject matter
of any such official meeting or convention. The purpose of the
foregoing is to allow those City officials of a particular department
and/or the members of the corresponding committee of the City Council
a preferential right to participate in the official meetings and
conventions which relate or pertain most directly to their
particular function and responsibility.
SECTION IV: Whenever such City official or employee is
authorized to the use of his personal car while on City business ,
there shall be allowed and paid the sum of 15c per mile for such
use but such allowance for mileage by personal car shall in no
event exceed the actual transportation expenses charged by any
other method of travel including airplane or train.
SECTION V: In computing the subsistence allowance above
specified, the calendar day (midnight to midnight) shall be the
computation unit , and for fractional parts ofthe day one-fourth
of the allowance of the calendar day shall be allowed for each
period of six hours or fraction thereof.
SECTION VI : Resolutions No. 1005 , 1230 , 1664, 1725 and 1953
and any other ordinance or resolution in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed.
