RESOLUTION N0: 1949
A RESOLUTION ADDRESSED TO THE. PRESIDENT OF THE
UNITED STATES AND THE U. S. CONGRESS REQUESTING
THE IMPOSITION AND REGULATION OF PRICE , WAGE
AND PROFIT CONTROLS
WHEREAS our country at the present time is suffering from an
excessive de ree of inflation and at the same time ex eriencin an

ever-increasing rate of unemployment and economic instability , and
WHEREAS as a result of said conditions , local governments are
unable to properly and timely plan revenue and expenditures for normal
budgeted operation, and are therefore impeded and limited in carrying
out their assigned responsibilities as reguired by the laws and statutes
of the Federal , State and Local governments , and
WHEREAS such condit�ions make i-t extremely difficult , if not
impossible , to adequately plan future budgets and provide for the
responsible administration of governmental functions , and
WHEREAS an imposition of controls on prices and wages would
not be sufficient and effective without also imposing similar controls
on excess and unconscionable profits made by certain industries and
businesses , NOW THEREFORE ;

, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : The above findings and recitals are hereby found '
to be true and correct in all respects .
SECTION II : The City of Renton hereby requests the President '
of the United States and the Congress of the United States to pass I
appropriate enabling legislation providing for the imposition of
equitable controls over prices .;a�d :wages on all retail goods and
services , labor and other production forces , and to further provide
for equitable limits on. profits >and to roll back any p�esently excess�ve
prices and costs of goods and services if due to unju.stified profits
and mark-ups .

SECTION III : The City of Renton herewith commits itself to
fully supporting the imPosition of such controls during the present
period of economic emergency.
SECTION IV : The City Clerk is hereby authorized and di.rected
to forward certified copies of thls Resolution to the President of the
United States , the leaders of the House and Senate of the Uni.ted States
Congress , and to the Senators and Congressmen elected from the State
of Washington, and urging their full and unqualified support in this
endeavor.
