RESOLUTION NO.T���
G�HEREAS the Burlington Northern, Inc. had heretofore made i
application to the Interstate Commerce Commission for the removal
and abandonment of certain railroad tracks within the City of
Renton as more particularly described as a portion o� its branch line
of railroad between Milepost 0+2827 and Milepost 3+1607 in the City
of Renton, King County, State of� tnlashington, and
WHEREAS the Interstate Commerce Commission issued its Order
approving such abandonment and removal under date of December 16 ,
1971 and such Order to be effective 35 days from such service
date , and
WHEREAS on or after the effective date o� such Order a wire
protest �aas filed by one �roperty owner and thereupon the Interstate
Commerce Commission stayed its Order of Abandonment , and
WHEREAS any further delay will cause irreparable harm to the
City of Renton and especially its downto�rn business area by reason
of present plans and work for the rehabilitation and reconstruction
of such do�,�rnto�rn area, NOW THEREFORE
SECTION I; The above recitals and findings are hereby found
to be true and correct in all respects .
SECTION II : The Mayor and City Attorney are hereby authorized
and directed to file a Motion for Intervention r�ith the Interstate
Commerce Commission inasmuch as the City has a direct and vital
interest in the abandonment and removal of such railroad tracks •
�
and the Mayor and other City officials are hereby authorized and
directed to prepare and file any and all documents reasonably neceasary �
to expedite the matter and to cause the Interstate Commerce Commission
to re-instate its prior Order of Abandonment at the earliest possible
date.
