RESOLUTION NO. /� 9 0 �
WHEREAS the U. S . Post Office Department has heretofore
established a need to expand and remodel the present postal facilities
within the City of Renton including additional postal space,and
WHEREAS such work has been long overdue,and
WHEREAS the Post Office Department has heretofore acquired
additional properties adjoining its present site on Williams South,
Renton, King County, Washington, and
WHEREAS the Post Off ice Department has now notified the
City of Renton through its Congressional Representative that no
construction will be taking place in the immediate future in view
of the Bureau of the Budget's directive curtailing Federal construc-
tion spending, and
WHEREAS such decision and directive are not in the best
interest of the citizens of the City of Renton and the State of
Washington, NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF RENTON AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I: The above findings and recitals are hereby
found to be true and correct in all respects.
SECTION II: The City of Renton hereby requests the Post
Off ice Department to reconsider its prior action and to take
immediate steps to proceed with its construction plans , especially
in view of the presently depressed economic situation in the State
of Washington, and p.�-�i���+Iy in the City of Renton and to proceed
with such project with all deliberate speed.
