WHEREAS the City of Renton has been a member, for many
years past, of the Statewide City Employees Retirement System, and
WHEREAS the City has been provided with the results of
certain studies and surveys made regarding a proposed consolidation
of the above mentioned system with the Public Employees Retirement
System, and
WHEREAS the City has heretofore resolved to support
certain amendments to RCW 41.44. 030 et seq as proposed by said
system to the Public Pension Commission, NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF RENTON AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I: The above stated recitals are hereby found
to be true and correct in all respects .
SECTION II: The City hereby reaffirms its support of
those certain amendments proposed to the 197i legislature and as
more particularly contained in that certain letter dated September 15 ,
1970 by the Statewide City Employees Retirement System to the Public
Pension Commission. The City fully favors and is in support of any
consolidation or combination o� the Statewide City Employees Retire-
ment System with the Public Employees Retirement System as long as
such combination or consolidation would provide more equitable
benefits and coverage to the City employees now covered by the State-
wide City Employees Retirement System and especially provide for more
substantial retirement benefits equal to those now being received by
public employees now belonging to the Public Employees Retirement
System.
