Ta�iEREAS rhe Library Board of the City of Renton has heretofore on various
occasions re�uested the City Council to appropriate and allocate funds into a Cumulative
Reserve Fund for the coristruction of a pu�lic library and related purposes, and
:aHEREAS the Ci[y Council is ��illing to matce such funds available for the
construction of a ne�a main library building cait�in the general vicinity of Liberty Park
as n�ay hereafter be determi�zed by the Library Board and the City Council, NO[d THEREFORE
BE YT RL�SOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COU�TCIL OF THE CITY OF R�NTON AS
FOLIA"tdS;
SECTIQI3: 1: The City Clerk and the City Treasurer are hereby auChorized and
direc�ed to appropriate and transfer the sum of $235,0OO.�JO from the City's "Cedar River
Acquisition Fuiid", unto the Cumulative Reserve Fund No. 1c75, also known. as "Cumu2ative
Reserve Fund for the Acquisi�ioi� of a Public Library Site, Cn�istruction of a Public
Library, a:zd Acquisition of Materials, Supplies, and Furnist�ings for a Public Lih�ary, and
Improvemenrs, Repairs, AddiCions and Alterations of Library properties and appurtenances
thereto, together with payment of Consultants a�zd �xperts ' services. Relative to the
Foregoing Purposes`�; PROVID�D HOI,IEVER. Cha� this transfer unto the aforesaid Cumulative
Reserve Fund shall not be used for site acquisition but only for the purpose of designing,
constructing and equipping a main library building within the general area or vicinity
of Liberty Park and for no other purpose without the prior approval o.f the City Council.
The Library Board shall furnish to the City Couacii its written approval and consent to
the aforesaid conditfon.
It is anticipated that the total construction cosC of such new ff�ain 2ibrary
building, together cJith related faciliCies will be in the appraximate an ount of
$3:z5,000.00. It is, therefore, contemplated by the Library Board and the City Council
that a genera2 obligation bond issue in the sum of approximately $150,000.00 be placed
o�z the ballot at the general election in November, 1Rb4 for the purpose of financing
the balance of said project, or as otherwise �ay be permitted vy law, toge�her with
such other general obligation bond issues for branch.and other library needs as may be
determir�ed by the City Council and the Library Board.
