AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION 1-802 (A)
OF TITLE I (ADMINISTRATIVE) OF
ORDINANCE N0. 1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF
GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
RENTON" RELATING TO HOLIDAYS AND
VACATIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY OF RENTON AS FOLLOWS :
(A)
SECTION I : Existing Section 1-802 /of Title I (Administrative)
of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of Ge�e�al Ordinances of the
City of Renton" is hereby amended to read as follows :

Section 1=802 VACATIONS : /Every officer or employee
of the City of Renton hereafter employed, except
full time members of the Renton Fire Department
working a shift different from an ordinary daily
eight hour work shift for which separate provisions
are inade�her.e,��below, shall, upon satisfactory
completion of the first six ( 6) months probationary
period, receive and be entitled to one (1) day per
month of vacation credit, thus allowing for a total
, of six ( 6) days at the end of said six months
probationary period; thereafter every officer or
employee of the City shall receive and be entitled
to a credit e ual to one 1 da er month of

subsequent consecutive employment, thus providing
total vacation credits of twelve (12) working days
' per year; after seven and one-half (7-1/2) years
of continuous employment with the City, such monthly
credits shall be increased to one and one-half (1-1/2)
working days per month; after fifteen (15) years of
' continuous employment, such monthly credits shall
be at the rate of one and three quarters (1-3/4)
working days per month; after twenty ( 20) years of
continuous employment, such monthly credits shall be
at the rate of two ( 2) working days per month.
Whenever any officer or employee shall not take a
vacation to which he is entitled in any one calendar
, year as above specified, by reason of the urgent need
of his continuous service or because of seasonal demand
therefor, such officer or employee, with the approval
of the head of his department or division, may be
allowed such vacation during the succeeding calendar
year, but in no event shall any vacation not taken
the year when due be accumulated beyond the next
succeeding calendar year. All vacations shall be taken
at such time as shall be approved by the head of the
department or division which a person entitled thereto
serves , or in the case of an officer, by the Mayor.
The minimum vacation allowance to be taken by an
employee shall be one day. Officers and employees as here-
inabove defined, who are laid off, re.tired, or who resign
after more than one year' s service, shall be given ;
proportionate vacations earned in the current year, !

together with any unused earned vacations for the preceding
calendar year before being separated from the payroll.
On the death of an employee in active service, pay shall �,
be allowed for any vacation earned in the preceding year ,
and in the current year and not trken prior to the death I
of such employee.
SECTION II : Any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION III: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, approval and legal publication.
