ORDINANCE NO. 2800
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SECTION 3-231 OF TITLE III (DEPARTMENTS)
OF ORDINANCE NO. 1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON" RELATING TO
, CHARGES FOR WATER SERVICE, AND SPECIAL CHARGES
FOR CERTAIN QUALIFYI�TG SENIOR CITIZENS RELATING
TO WATER AND SEWER RATES
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Existing Section 3-231 as amended entitled
"Charges for Unmetered Water Service" of Chapter 2, Title III
(Departments) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General
Ordinances of the City of Renton'° is hereby amended to read as
follows: �
Section 3-231 as amended: CHARGES FOR UNMETERED WATER 5ERVICE:
A. F lat rate charges for unmetered water service �aithin the
City are hereby fixed at the sum of three dollars ($3.00) per month
for a three-fourths inch (3/4") connection.
The minimum rates for metered water supplied within the City in one
(1) month or fractional period thereof, are hereby fixed as specified
in the following schedule:

1 inch 900 cubic feet or less $ 4.65
1-1/2 inch 900 cubic feet or less $ 8.40
2 inch 900 cubic feet or less $ 1Z.25

4 inch 900 cubic feet or less $ 37 .50
6 inch 900 cubic feet or less $ 93.75
� 8 inch 900 cubic feet or less $187.50
�� 10 inch 900 cubic feet or less $281.25
12 inch 900 cubic feet or less $562.50
, The next 2, 000 cubic feet in excess of 900 cu. ft. $0.24 per 100 cu ft
The next 50,000 cu. ft. in excess of 2, 900 cu. ft. $0. 18 per 100 cu ft
� Over 52, 900 cu. ft. and up to 102, 900 cu. ft. $0. 12 per 100 cu ft
' Over 102, 900 cu. ft. - $0. 11 per 100 cu ft
Provided, however, that water used with high seasonal demand as determined
by the ratio of quantity used in July-August to quantity used in February-
March exceeding ratio 3 to 1 shall not be entitled to the $0. 11 rate.

B. Every single perso n, sixty two (62�' years of age or older,
and every single person totally and permanently disabled, residing in
a single family dwelling, either as owner or purchaser, whose income
from all sources is three hundred thirty-three dollars and thirty-three

cents ($333.33) per month or less, and four thousand dollars ($4, 000.00)
per annum, or less, or in case of marital community both parties ,
husband and wife, residing in a single family dwelling, either as owner
or purchaser, and both spouses being sixty �wo (62) years of age or older,
whose total income from all sources is four hundred twenty five dollars
($425.00) per month, or less, and five thousand one hundred dollars
($5, 100.00) per annum, or less, shall pay the following rates for
water and sewer services relating to such single family dwelling in
which such eligible person or persons permanently reside.
$1.00 per month limited to 900 cubic feet of water per
month; including the monthly rate for sewage disposal
service for a single family dwelling unit ;
Any excess shall be charged as provided in Section 3-231
of Title III relating to water rates.
C. Every such person, (if married, then either spousej shall
file with the Utilities Department of the City, his or her statement,
under oath, that he, she or they are qualified to be charged a special
rate for such utility services hereinabove set forth and such statement
to contain such other information as the Director of Utilities may
prescribe including residence address, ownership or interest in
� dwelling occupied by such applicant or applicants, the amount, source
and nature of all income from any and all sources, together with the
applicant ' s unqualified promise to forthwith notify the City of any
circumstances or change in condition which would make the applicant
or applicants ineligible to receive said special rates. Al1 of such
information shall be treated in confidence and all such application
I and statements shall only be available for inspection by authorized
personnel of the City.
SECTION II: Any a nd all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

SECTION III : This Ordinance shall be effective upon its
passage, approval and five days after its publication, unless
otherwise provided for hereinabove.
