CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
ORDINANCE N0. �916
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SECTION 8-715 , SUBSECTIONS (A) and (D)
OF TITLE VIII (HEALTH AND SANITATION) OF ORDINANCE
N0. 1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF
THE CITY OF RENTON" RELATING TO METRO SEWER CHARGES I
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN II
AS FOLLOWS : I�
SECTION I : Existing Subsections CA) and (D) of Section 8-715 'i
of Title VIII (Health and Sanitation) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled
"Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" are hereby
amended to read as follows :
Section 8-715 (A) SEWER CHARGES ; SPECIAL RATES :
CA) The monthly rates and charges for sewage disposal service
shall be as follows :
1. Single family dweliing units $1. 50 per month
2 . All other users . A charge of one dollar fifty cents
($1. 50 ) per month for each nine hundred (900 ) cubic
feet of water ,used by apartments , multiple dwelling
units of every type and number , business , commercial ,
industrial and all other users .
3 . Charges for sewer service without City water. In the
event that water obtained from other sources than
purchased from the City of Renton is either discharged
, or drained into �$�.e sewer system, single family
dwellings and other users shall be charged by one
of two (2) follawing methods :
(a) Five� dollars five cents C$5 . 05 ) per single �I
, family residence . Cincludes three dollars '
fifty five cents C$3 . 55) Metro charge)
(b) Other than single family dwellings , the
Director of Public Works shall install a water
meter into such private water system at no i
cost to property owners and the method of
billing shall be in compliance with
i Section 8-715 (A) 2 .
CD) In addition to the foregoing charges specified in this
Section, the following rates shall be charged :
l. A charge of three dollars fifty five cents ($3 . 55)
per month payable to "Metro" for each single family
dwelling unit.

2 . A charge of three dollars fifty five cents ($3 . 55 ) per
month payable to "Metro" for each nine hundred C900)
cubic feet of water used by apartments9 multiple
dc�relling units of every type and number, business ,
commercial , industrial and all other users .
The following rates are hereby established for certain qualfied
senior citizens who areeco�omically disadvantaged as herein aet forth:
l. Ever_y single person, sixty two (62) years of age or older , and
every single person substantially and permanently disabled residing
in a single family dwelling, either as owner or purchaser , whose
income from all sources is three hundred thirty three dollars thirty
three cents ($333 . 33) per month or less , and four thousand dollars
($4 ,000 . 00) per annum, or less .
2 . Every married couple , constituting a marital community , resid.ing
in a single family dwelling, either as owner or purchaser , and both spousesl
being sixty two (62 ) years of age or older, or one such spouse being
sixty two (62 ) years of age or older and substantially and permanently
disabled, while the other spouse is under age sixty two (62) , and
whose total income from all sources is four hundred twenty five
dollars ($425 . 00) per month or less , and five thousand one hundred
dollars ($5 ,100 . 00) per annum or less ;
and all of the aforementioned qualifying persons shall pay the
following rates for water and sewer services relating to such single
family dwelling in which such eligible person or persons permanently
reside, to-wit:
One dollar ($1. 00 ) per month including the monthly rate for se�tage
disposal for a single family dwelling unit.
Any excess shall be charged as provided in Section 3-231 of Title III
relating to water rates .
SECTION II : Any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION III : This ordinance shall be effective on and after
January l, 1975 , and upon its passage , approval and five days after
its legal publication.
