RESOLUTION NO. ,1/'/
WHEREAS, the present great economic growth of the State of Washington has
created an even greater impact on the cities, towns, and rural areas of King County due
to the influx of population and the extensive development of new industrial, shopping,
and housing centers; and
WHEREAS, the present and anticipated growth will compound the critical traffic
congestion problems now prevalent in many areas; and
WHEREAS, the continued economic growth and prosperity of the King County area
is dependent upon the early relief of these traffic problems and the development of a
planned, modern highway system to move people and goods efficiently and expeditiously
over the primary and secondary highway systems; and
WHEREAS the recently formed King County-City Coordinating Conference has,
through its Engineers and Planners Subcommittee, recommended a 1967-69 Biennium Priority
Schedule for State Highways in King County which will best serve the anticipated and
immediate highway needs of the area, NCP THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON AS FOLLMS:
SECTION I: The above findings and recitals are hereby found to be true and
correct.
SECTION II: The 1967-69 Biennium Priority Schedule for the construction and
modernization of State Highways is hereby recommended and endorsed, and the Washington
State Highway Commission is petitioned to grant every consideration and to take all
necessary steps to expedite the early completion of the recommended schedule in order
to minimize and alleviate the highly critical traffic problems now existing in our area.
