ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, PROVIDING LEAVE
FOR JURY DUTY AND PROVIDING FOR PAYMENT OF THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
THE EMPLOYEE'S REGULAR SALARYAND THE COMPENSATION RECEIVED FOR SUCH
JURY DUTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON AS
FOLLOWS:
Section I: Each Department Head shall permit any full time employee of the
City to report for duty and to serve as member of a jury, whether in State or Federal
Courts, or to exercise any civil duty provided by law.
Section II: Each full time employee who is granted such leave and who
receives compensation for the performance of such jury duty shall be paid by the City
for the time he is absent from his work while serving on such jury, the amount of the
excess of his regular salary or pay over the compensation so received for his jury
duty. Every employee, upon completion of such jury duty, shall on the next work day
report in writing to the payroll department of the City the dates and periods of such
absence from regular duty with the City. As soon as such employee has received
compensation for the rendition of such jury service, the employee shall promptly
report the same in writing to the payroll department and it shall be the duty of the
payroll department to make the necessary payment -.to suahiemployee constituting the
difference between his regular compensation and the amount received for such jury
duty. In the event any mileage is allowed to such juror for travel to and from the
pay
Courthouse and his residence, then such mileage/shall notbe considered in computing the
aforesaid difference.
