WHEREAS, the City of Renton has heretofore duly passed Ordinance No.1307,
said Ordinance being known as the CITY OF RENTON BUILDING CODE, and WHEREAS,
said Code does not contain or establish a basis or method for the purpose of
estimating the cost of buildings and other structures by types and occupancy
and WHEREAS, such basis and method are necessary and required for the purpose
of establishing proper charges and fees for building permits and other pur-
poses, NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF RENTON: 1
That the(estimated cost of buildings and other structures; as well as
additions thereto, shall be arrived at by multiplying the estimated cost per
square foot as set forth and designated in the attached chart, said chart to
be a part of this Resolution as if fully set forth herein; and to be further
established by the square foot contents arrived at in accordance with the rules
set forth on said attached chart; Further providing, that where the square foot
contents method is manifestly inapplicable as in the case of alterations and
repairs, or in the construction of retaining walls, billboard and -similar
structures, the building official shall estimate the cost as near as may be,
including therein the cost of all essential equipment in place, but excluding
furnishings. No deductions shall be made of the cost of any furnace, plumbing
work for which a separate permit is required.

TYPES OF BUILDINGS:
GROUPS A, B and C.
A. Any assembly building with a stage and an occupant load of 1,000 or more in
building.
B. Any assembly building with a stage and an occupant load of less than 1,000 in
building.
C. Any building used for school purposes more than 4 hours per week, involving
assemblage for instructions, education or recreation.

F. Wholesale and retail stores, Office buildings, restaurants, Undertaking parlors,
Police and Fire Stations, Service Stations.
G. Ice Plants, Power plants, Cold Storage and Creameries, Storage and Sales Rooms
of incombustible and non -explosive materials.
