WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton has heretofore gone
on record on several occasions in favor of the reduction and final elimination
of the City's Business & Occupation Tax, and
WHEREAS, such tax has, since its adoption on a temporary basis, been
greatly reduced in compliance with the Cityts previous declarations, and
WHEREAS, it is considered of utmost importance to the City to reaffirm
its previous position regarding such tax, having due regard to the need of making
available to existing and incoming industries and business concerns a fair and
healthy business climate which must be competitive with adjoining and surrounding
communities, NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON
AS FOLLOWS:
1. The above recitals are hereby found to be true in all respects,
and it is to the best interests of the City to herewith re -affirm and pledge
anew its prior declarations to reduce and eliminate the presently existing
Business & Occupation Tax at the earliest possible date. Such tax reduction
and elimination shall take place not later than the availability to the City of
sufficient ttpayment in lieu of taxes" or the benefit to and receipt by the City
of adequate real-estate and personal property taxes by reason of newly acquired
businesses and industries within territories annexed or to be annexed to the
present City Limits.
