HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1458ORDINANCE NO. 1458 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, PROHIBITING AND RESTRICTING THE PARKING OF CERTAIN VEHICLES, ESTABLISHING CERTAIN RESTRIC- TED AREAS AND PROVIDING FOR OTHER TRAFFIC REGU- LATIONS WITHIN THE RENTON AIRPORT, PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF AND REPEAL- ING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. .BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, vehicle, boat, or any other device, except aircraft operating in accordance with Civil Air Regulations, to stop, stand, cross or walk within one hun- dred (100) feet from, on or about the runway of, the Renton Airport, except on established roadways. Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, vehicle, boat, or any other device, other than aircraft as above defined, to park, stop, angle park, stand or be about within fifty (50) feet of any ac- cess road, path or alley -way leading to the seaplane beaching ramp and the marine railway located within the Renton Airport. Section. 3. Whenever any police officer or other law enforcement officer finds any such vehicle, boat or other device standing or parked upon the prohibited areas as heretofore defined in Sections 1 and 2 above, such officer is hereby- authorized to remove such vehicle, boat or device and/or to require the operator or the person in charge of U such vehicle to remove same from s ei d area, forthwith. Whenever any police officer finds any vehicle, boat or device unattended in such a position as to constitute an obstruction to air or. other traffic such officer is hereby authorized to provide for the removal of same to the nearest place of safety. Any cost incurred in the removal thereof shall be paid for by the owner or person in chw ge of the object so re- moved and the same shall constitute a lien thereon. Section 4. It shall be unlawful for any operator of any vehicle, except aircraft as hereinabove defined, to operate the same within the limits of the Renton Airport at a speed in excess of 25 miles per hour, EXCEPT that a. The Renton Aviation Board is hereby authorized and directed to prescribe a lesser maximum speed in any congested or other areas, and to regulate and restrict traffic within the limits of the Renton Airport so as to permit the movement of traffic in a safe and order- ly manner at all times. Proper signs thereof shall be posted by the Renton Aviation, Board. Section 5. The unlawful operation of a vehicle in excess of the maximum lawful speeds, as provided in this Ordinance or as established and posted by the Renton Aviation Board, at the point of operation and under the circumstances described shall. be prima facie evidence of the operation of such motor vehicle in a negligent manner by the operator thereof. Section 6. A11 ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed and superseded. Section 7. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of t rsis ordinance shall be -guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in a sum not to exceed $100.00 or thirty (30) days in jail, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Section 8. This Ordimnce shall be in full force; and effect af- ter its passage, approval and due publication. PASSED BY THE CITY C OUNCIL this 16th day of June, 1953.
