ORDINANCE NO. 1473
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SECTIONS IX AND X OF ORDINANCE 1143,
AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCES,NOS. 1235, 1239, EN-
TITLED: "AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO TRAFFIC AND
REGULATING THE USE OF PUBLIC STREETS AND HIGH-
WAYS IN THE CITY OF RENTON; PROVIDING FOR THE
INSTALLATION, REGULATION AND CONTROL OF THE
USE OF PARKING METERS AND PARIPING METER ZONES;
DEFINIING PARKING METER ZONES; AUTHORIZING A
METHOD OF PAYMENT FOR PARKING METERS AND THE
INSTALLATION THEREOF EXCLUSIVELY FROM THE
RECEIPTS OBTAIN -ED FROM THEIR OPERATION; PRO-
VIDING FOR ENFORCEMENT AND PENALTY FOR VIOLATION
THEREOF; CREATING A PARKING METER FUND, AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY . n
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Section IX of Ordinance No. 1143, as amended by Ordinance
Nos. 1235,1239, reading as follows: "It shall be the duty of traffic
officers so instructed to take the parking meter number, and the state
vehicle license number, of all persons violating the provisions of this
Ordinance, and make complaint thereof in the Police Court of the City of
Renton, t'
BE AND THE SANE IS HEREBY REPEALED AND RE-ENACTED TO READ AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION IX: Whenever any motor vehicle is found parked in violation
of any of the parking restrictions or provisions of this Ordinance, as
amended, the officer so finding it shall take its registration number,
if available, the state vehicle license number, the number of the parking
meter involved, and any other information displayed on the vehicle which
may identify its user, and leave on such vehicle a ticket or notice or
deliver same to the operator of such vehicle, on a form provided by the
Chief of Police of the City of Renton, for the operator to answer to the
charge against him within seven (7) days, at a place specified in the
notice; the officer shall send a copy of said notice to the Traffic
Violations Section of the Police Department of the City of Renton.
Section .2: Section X of Ordinance No. 1143, as amended by Ordinances
Nos. 1235, 1239, reading as follows: "Any person, firm or corporation
who shall violate or permit or allow anyone to violate Section Five or
Section Six of this ordinance shall be given a parking ticket and shall be
required within five days to post $1.00 bail for such ticket, and in the
event such bail is not posted within said five days period warrant may be
issued for said ticket and upon conviction the person, firm or corporation
may be fined in any amount not exceeding $25.00 and costs."
BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY REPEALED AND RE-ENACTED TO READ AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION X: (a) Any person, firm or corporation charged with an
offense under Section Five (5) or Section Six (6) of this Ordinance may
post bail with the Traffic Violations Section of the Police Department
of the City of Renton in the sum of $1.00 if so posted within seven (7)
days from the date of such notice or ticket or in the sum of $2.00 if so
posted after the seventh day and before the 30th day from the date of
such notice or ticket, or trial may be requested as authorized by law.
(b) Any person, firm or corporation who wilfully neglects to answer
to the charges set forth in the notice or ticket or post bail therefor
as hereinabove provided, shall be guilty of a violation of this cardbe,
regardless of the charges for which the notice was originally issued,
and shall upon conviction thereof be fined in a sum not exceeding $100.0
and costs.
Section 3: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after
its passage, approval and legal publication.
