AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 1048, KNOWN AS THE TRAFFIC CODE OF THE CITY
OF TRENTON., RELATING TO THE OPERATION OF VEHICLES WITHOUT
AN OPERATORIS LICENSE, EXCEPTIONS THERETO AND PROVIDING
PENALTIES THIEREFOR.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Existing Section 3 of Chapter IX (Miscellaneous) of Ordinance
No. 1079, known and designated as the Traffic Code of the City of Renton, reading
as follows:
"Section 3. OPERATION WITHOUT LICEINSE UATLAWFUL--EXCEPTIONS OF FARM
AND ROAD MACHINERYANTD MILITAR.Y AND NAVAL VEHIICLES. It shall be un-
lawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle upon any of the public
highways of this City unless such person shall have in his possession
a current and valid vehicle operator's license issued on his own appli-
cation as provided in this chapter: Provided, no person shall be re-
quired to obtain ar operator's license for the purpose of driving or
operating road machinery, or anv farm tractor or implement of husbandry
temporarily drawn, moved or propelled on a public highway: Provided,
further, no person in the service of the army, navy, or marine corps or
coast guard of the United States or in the service of the national guard
of this state or any other state when furnished with their operator's
permit and when operating an official motor vehicle in such service shall
be required to have a vehicle operator's license".
BE. AND THE SANE IS HEREBY 24ENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS:
AMENDED SECTION 3 of tha ter IX. OPERATION WITHOUT LICEI3SE UNLAWFUL--RX-
CEPTrONS OF FARM AND ROAD MACHINERY 1,1ND MILITARY AND NAVAL VEHICLES. It shall be
unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle upon any of the public highways
of this City unless such person shall have in his possession a current and valid
vehicle operator's license issued on his own application as provided in this
chapter: Provided, no person shall be required to obtain an operator's license
for the purpose of driving or operating road machinery, or any farm tractor or
implement of husbandry temporarily drawn, moved or propelled on a public highway:
Provided, further, no person in the service of the air force army, navy, or marine
corps or coast guard of the United States or in the service of the national guard
of this state or any other state when furnished with their operator's permit and
when operating an official motor vehicle in such service shall be required to have
a vehicle operatorts license.
If the operator at the time charged with any violption of anv provisions of
this Traffic Code was without an operator's license beceuse of a previous sus-
pension or revocation, he shall, upon conviction, be fined rot less than two
hundred ($200.00) dollars and be sentenced to not less than 90 days in .jail. The
penalty so imposed shall not be suspended.
SECTION II. All ordinances a.nd parts of ordinnnees in conflict herewith be
and the same are hereb- repealed.
SECTION III. Should am% section_, clause or provisions of this ordinance be
declared by the courts to be invalid, the same shall not affect the validity of
the ordinance as a whole or any part thereof, other than the part so declared to
be invalid.
SECTION IV. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its pass.^ge, approval and legal publication.
