ORDINANCE NO. 15380
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1210 PROVIDING
FOR THE LICENSING AND REGULATING OF PAWNBROKERS;
DEFINING OFFENSES, PROVIDING PENALTIES, PROVIDING
FOR THE REVOCATION AND SUSPENSION .OF LICENSES;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF RENTON AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I: Existing Section 2 of Ordinance No. 1210 reading
as follows:
"Pawnbrokerts license fee: It shall be unlawful for any
person to engage in the business of pawnbroker, or to con-
duct a pawnshop' without first having obtained a license
so to do, to be known as a "Pawnbrokerts License". The
license fee for a Pawnbrokerts License shall be, and the
same is hereby, fixed in the sum of Forty ($40.00) Dollars
per annum."
BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS:
AMENDED SECTION 2: It shall be unlawful for any person to
engage in the business of pawnbroker, or to conduct a pawnshop, without
first having obtained a license so to do, to be known and designated as
a "Pawnbrokerts License", The license fee for a Pawnbrokerts License
shall,16e, and the same is hereby fixed in the sum of Forty ($40.00) per
annum. No pawnbrokerts license shall be issued hereafter which would
increase the number of holders of such licenses to more than one for
every 15,000 of population, according to the last preceding Federal
or State census.
Application for Pawnbrokerts License shall be in writing, .filed
with the City Clerk on forms furnished by the City and shall be
accompanied by the required license fee. The application shall then
be referred to the Police Department for investigation and recommendation.

StCTION II: Existing Section 9 of Ordinance No. 1210 reading
as follows:
"Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions
of this ordinance, shall upon conviction thereof be fined in
any sum not exceeding $300.00, or by imprisonment in the City
jail for not more than 90 days, or by both such fine and im-
prisonment, and in addition thereto the license of such person
may. be revoked."
BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS:

AMENDED SECTION 9: Any person, firm or corporation violating
any of the provisions of this ordinance shall,.upon conviction thereof,
be fined in any sum not exceeding '100.00, or by imprisonment in the
City Jail for not more than thirty (30) days, or by both such fine and
imprisonment, and in addition thereto the license of such person may
be revoked or suspended.
SECTION III: This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, approval and legal publication.
