AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF' RENTON.. WASHINGTON,
AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1472, PROVIDING
FOR '.IN LIEU PAYMENTS" AND FOR "JOINT FACILITIES`.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RENTON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Zoning Ordinance No. 1472 of the City of Renton,
as heretofore :amended by Ordinance No. 1542, is hereby AMENDED by
adding to Section XIV thereof, entitled "Parking and Loading Space
Requirements", two new Paragraphs to be designated Paragraphs 2
and 3, hereby added at the end of said Section XIV immediately
following the table of "Land Use Ox Number of Parking Spaces", as
follows:
`& Par. 2 (Sec. XIV), IN LIEU PAYMENTS. In lieu of
furnishing the parking spaces hereinabove required (except
on residential property), the requirements and provisions
thereof may, if approved by the Planning Commission, be
satisfied by paying to the City Treasurer prior to issuance
of a building permit, the sum of e� for each
parking space required under provisions of this Section XIV.
Sums so paid shall be deposited by the City Treasurer in a
special fund to be designated "City of Renton Off -Street
and .-
Parking Cumulative Fund"/shall be used and expended exclu-
sively for acquiring, developing and maintaining off-street
parking facilities, by purchase or lease. Such facilities
shall, whenever feasible, and having due regard to the status
and sources of said fund, be acquired in the general vicinity
of the building for which the in lieu payments were made.
'. Par. 3 (Sec. XIV), "JOINT FACILITIES". Joint or
common parking facilities may be provided in lieu of the
individual building requirements contained herein, providing
that such facilities be first approved by the Planning Commission

as to size, shape, location, and relationship to the
building sites to be served. The number of off-street
parking spaces to be provided in such joint facilities
shall not be less than the total of the separate require-
ments merged therein, provided that when any such common
or joint facility shall occupy a site of 5000 square feet
or more, then the parking area as otherwise required herein
may be reduced not more than 15 per cent, upon prior
approval by the Planning Commission of the building plans
thereof, granting in the manner prescribed for conditional
permits as set forth in Section XVIII of said zoning
Ordinance No. 1472.p as amended by Ordinance No. 1542.
SECTION II: This Ordinance shall be effective from and after
its passage, approval and publication.
