HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1738ORDINANCE NO._ AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON AMENDING SECTION 3-224 OF TITLE III (DEPARTMENTS) OF ORDINANCE.NO. 1628 ENTITLED " CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON" RELATING TO WATER RATES USED IN FIRE PROTECTION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE.MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I: Existing Section 3-224 of Title III (Departments) of Ordinance No. 1628, entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton', reading as follows: "3-224 FIRE PROTECTION: Services for fire protection must be metered at the expense of the owner and fitted with such fixtures only as are needed for fire protection and entirely disconnected from those used for other purposes. Persons having .such services - shall be charged not less than the minimum rate charged for metered service. "No charge will be made for water used in extinguishing fire if the owner or occupant of the premises where such fire occurs gives written notice to the office of the Superintendent within ten days from the time of such fire. In no case will any tap be made upon any pipe used for fire service purposes or any tank connected there- with, nor shall the use of any water be permitted through any fire service nor through any pipes, tank or other fixtures therewith connected for any purpose except the extinguishing of fire on the premises." BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS: 3-224 AS AMENDED. FIRE PROTECTION: Services for fire protection must be metered or detector checked at the expense of the owner and fitted with such fixtures only as are needed for fire protection and must be entirely dis- connected from those used for other purposes. The charges for such fire protection services are hereby established as follows: Size of Line 4 inch 6 inch line or over Charge per Month $ 2.50 $ 3.50 No charge will be made for water used in extinguishing fire if the owner or occupant of the premises where such fire occurs gives written notice to the office of the Superintendent within ten days from the time of such fire. In no case will any tap be made upon any pipe used for fire service purposes or any tank connected therewith, nor shall the use of any water be permitted through any fire service nor through any pipes, tank or other fixtures -1- therewith connected for any purpose except the extinguishing of fire on the premises.
