AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, PROVIDING
FOR THE LICENSING AND REGULATING OF GOLF COURSES, SKATING
RINKS AND THEATRES AND SHOWS, FIXING THE LICENSE FEES
THEREFOR, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF
ITS PROVISIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RENTON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Every person, firm or corporation, before commencing to
carry on, open, conduct or operate any of the businesses hereinafter described.
within the corporate limits of the City of Renton, Washington, shall apply for
and obtain a license so to do from the City Clerk. Application for each license
shall be made on blanks furnished by the -City Clerk, and before the said license
is grantedthe same shall be presented to and .approved by the Chief of Police
and the City Council of the City of Renton. Prior to its issuance, the Chief
of Police shall inspect said place of business or the manner of operation of
the proposed business and report in writing to the City.Clerk, and said report
shall remain on file with the City Clerk.
SECTION II: All licenses issued hereunder shall expire.on the last
dAy of December of the year in which the same shall have been issued, except that
at the request of the applicant, licenses may be issued on a semi»annual basis,
each such semi-annual period to extend from January 1 to -June 30, and from July 1
to. December 31 of each calendar year.
SECTION III: Every operator or owner of a golf course, skating rink,
whether roller skating or ice skating, and theatre .or motion picture show, before
commencing to carry on or conduct a business within the corporate limits of the
City of _Renton, Washington, shall obtain a license for the operation of said
business from the -City Clerk and pay a license fee as follows:
a. For operation of a golf.course and activities incidental
thereto, the sum of $50.00 annually; if semi-annual license,
the fee shall be $25.00 for such semi-annual period.
b. For operation of a skating rink (roller skating or ice
skating) the sum of.$50.00 annually; if semi-annual.ii.cense,
the fee shall be.$25.00 for such semi-annual period.
c,. For operation of a theatre or motion picture show (each),,
the sum of $50.00 annually; if semi-annual license, the
fee shall be.$25.00 for such semiannual period.

The agents or other representatives of nonresidents who are doing
business in this. City shall be personally responsible for the compliance of
their principals and of .the businesses they represent with this Ordinance.
No rebate or refund of any license fee or part thereof shall be
made by reason of the non-use of such license or by reason of a 'change of location
or business rendering the use of such license ineffective.
Each license issued hereunder shall state upon its face the following:
1. The name of the licensee and any other name under which such
business is being conducted.
2. The kind and address .of each business so licensed.
3. The amount of license fee therefor.
4. The dates of issuance and expiration thereof.
5. Such information as the City Clerk shall determine.
Every licensee under this. Ordinance shall permit all reasonable
inspections of his business and examinations of his premises by duly authorized
agents of the.City and shall'at all times comply with all laws and regulations
applicable to such licensed business. Each licensee shall avoid all forbidden,
improper or unnecessary practices or conditions which do or may affect the public
health, morals or welfare.
SECTION IV: The City Clerk shall have the authority to suspend or revoke any
license issued hereunder upon the failure or refusal of the licensee to comply
with the provisions of this Ordinance after due hearing thereof.
Any person aggrieved by any decision of the City Clerk after hearing
shall have the right to appeal to the City -Council of the City of.Renton .by
filing a written appeal with such body within ten days following the effective
date of the action or decision complained of.
SECTION V: Any person violating the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined any sum not
exceeding;$100.00 or imprisonment in: the City Jail for any period not exceeding
thirty (30) days or by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 'V%: Chapter 22 of Title V (Business Regulations) of Ordinance

No. 1628=entitled-"Code of General Ordinances of the City of.Renton" is hereby
repealed.
SECTION V:U : This Ordinance shall be in.full force and effect on and
after July 1, 1959, and after its passage, approval and legal publication.
