AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON REQUIRING LICENSING
OF "SHUFFLEBOARDS" FIXING LICENSE FEESDEFINING
OFFENSES AND PRAVAING A PENALTY FOR THi VIOLATION
HEREOF. ,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RENTON� WASHINGTON:
Section 11 DEFINITION:
The term "Shu.ffleboard'l shall mean an amusement device or
game of skill consisting of a table or bench, excluding billiard or
pool tables, upon or across which caroms or like objects are propelled,i
which is operated in any place other than a private residence.
Section 2s Mp_-MM UNLESS LICENSED:_
On and after January 1, 1950 it shall be unlawful for any person
or corporation to offer or permit the use by others of# any "Shuffleboards"
as above defined, within the City of Renton., without having a valid unrevoked
license for the same.
Section 3= LICI ENSMG:
Application for such licenses shall be made to the City Clerk in
such form and containing such information as the City Clerk may require.
Upon approval by the City Council and payment of license fee to the City Treasurer..
the City Clerk shall issue the license. A separate license shall be required for
each and every "Shuffleboard" hereinabove defined, and each license shall
entitle the holder thereof to have, maintain and operate the "Shuffleboard"
identified.therein in such location as may be described in the application and
license and not elsewhere. Licenses shall not be transferable from one person
or corporation to another, nor from one location to another.
Section 4& LICENSE FEES:
The license fee to be paid hereunder for each "Shuffleboard" shall
be the sum of $30.00 per calendar year, and each license hereunder shall ex-
pire December 31st of the year in which issued: licenses may be issued for un-
expired fractional parts of a year, in which case the above annual license fee
shall be pro -rated and paid on the basis of $2.50 for each month or fraction
of a month remaining in the calendar year computed from the date of issue. Each
license issued hereunder shall be kept.and prominently displayed on or in close
proximity to the "Shuffleboard" licensed thereunder, and at the location for
which same is licensed.

Section 5. VIOLATIONS:
Any person or corporation violating or failing to comply with any
of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon
conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not to exceed One Hundred ($100.00)
Dollars, or imprisoned for any term not to exceed thirty (30) days. or by both
such fine and imprisonments and any licenses issued hereunder to such person
or corporation may be revoked and the devices licensed thereunder may be con—
fiscated.
Section 6= MARTIAL INVALIDITY:
If any section., provision., clause or sentences or part thereof,
of this Ordinance be held invalid or unconstitutional the same shall not
affect the vAlidity or constitutionality of any other section$ provisions
clause, sentence or portion thereof in this Ordinance.
Section 7: EFFB3TIVE DATE:
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect five days from
and after its passages approval and publication; the provisions prohibitions
and licensing required hereunder to become operative and effective on and after
the first day of January 1950.
