AN ORDINANCE, OF THE CITY OF RENTON, PROVIDING FOR A SYSTEM OF
HOUSE NUMBERING AND REPEALING ALL ORDINAA'CES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
Sec. 1. For purposes of establishing a coordinated system of
house numbering in the City of Renton, the City shall be
divided into two parts by a line beginning at the intersection
of the north line of Airport Way with the east line of Rainier
Avenue (State Highway No. 5), projected easterly to the north
line of the Commercial Waterway No. 2, thence southeasterly
along said north line to its intersection with the west -east
1/4 Sec. line through the center of Sec. 17 T23NR5E W.M.
(being Second Avenue), thence easterlyalong said 1/4 Sec. line
to and beyond the easterly boundary of the City. Names of
streets and avenues lying south of the line above described
shall carry neither prefix nor suffix. Streets and avenues
lying north of this line shall carry the suffix "North." Along
all streets or avenues running north and south, those lots on
the east side thereof shall take even numbers, and those lots
on the west side thereof shall take odd numbers, under the
house -numbering system herein established. Along all streets
or avenues running east and west, those lots on the north
side thereof shall take even numbers and those lots on the
south side thereof shall take odd numbers under said numbering
system. Each block or equivalent is allotted one hundred
numbers in sequence on each street or avenue running north
from said -dividing line as zero, and on each street or avenue
running south from said dividing line as zero, in accordance
with the official city map. Each block or equivalent is like-
wise allotted one hundred numbers in sequence on each street
or avenue running east from said Rainier Avenue as zero,
provided that in the area lying south of Third Avenue said
zero point shall be on a line extending south from the inter-
section of said Rainier Avenue and Third Avenue; all in accord-
ance with the official map of the city.
Sec. 2. Along streets or avenues running east and west the
lots shall be numbered consecutively from one upwards, beginning
at the line of said Rainier Avenue, one number being allotted
for each 25 feet or fraction thereof of street frontage, and
each block being allotted one hundred numbers as aforesaid.
Sec. 3. Along streets or avenues running north and south, in
that portion of the city lying sou% etdip above-described

numbered from 200 up consecutively beginning at said dividing
line, one number being assigned to each 25 feet or fraction
thereof of street frontage, and one hundred numbers being
allotted to each block as aforesaid.
Sec. 4. Along streets or avenues running north and south in
the remaining portion of the city lying south of the above-
described dividing line the lots shall be numbered consecutively
from gone', up, beginning at said dividing line,, one number being
assigned to each 25 feet or fraction thereof of street frontage,
and 100 numbers being allotted to each block as aforesaid.
Sec. 5. Along streets or avenues running north and south in
that portion of the city lying north of above-described
dividing line the lots shall be numbered consecutively,fro'm
one up, beginning at said dividing line, one number being
assigned to each 25 feet or fraction thereof of street
frontage, and one hundred numbers being assigned to each
block as aforesaid.
Sec. 6. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
Sec. 7. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
five days from and after its passage, approval and legal
publication as provided by law.
