ORDINANCE 1235
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINJGTON, AMENDING SECTIONS
FIVE AND TEN OF ORDINANCE #11439 ENTITLED, "AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO
TRAFFIC AND REGULATING THE USE OF PUBLIC STREETS AND HIGHWAYS IN THE
CITY OF RENTON: PROVIDING FOR THE INSTALLATION, REGULATION AND CONTROL
OF THE USE OF PARKING METERS AND PARKING METER ZONES: DEFINING PARKING
METER ZONES: AUTHORIZING A METHOD OF PAYMENT FOR PARKING TASTERS AND THE
INSTALLATION THEREOF EXCLUSIVELY FROM THE RECEIPTS OBTAINED FROM 'THEIR
OPERATION: PROVIDING FOR ENFORCEMENT AND PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF:
CREATING A PARKING TOTER FUND, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY".
The City Council of the City of Renton do ordain as follows:
Section is That Section Five of Ordinance #1143, reading as follows:
"When any vehicle shall be parked next to a parking meter, the
owner or operator of said vehicle shall park within the area de-
signated by the curb or street marking lines as i dicated for
parallel or diagonal parking, and upon entering said parking space-,
shall immediately deposit in said meter a five cent coin of the
United States for the maximuq1 legal parking limit, and/or a one
cent coin of the United States for one-fifth of the maximum legal
parking limit. It shall be unlawful for any person so parking a
vehicle to fail or neglect to so deposit the proper coin, or coins
or to fail to park within said designated area.
Said parking space may then be used by such vehicle during the
legal parking limit provided by the ordinances of the City, or
regulations issued thereunder, and said vehicle shall be considered
as unlawfully parked if it remains in said space `beyond the legal
parking limit and/or when said parking meter displays a signal
showing such illegal parking.
It shall be unlawful for any person to cause or permit any vehicle
registered in his name to be unlawfully parked as set out in this

be and the same hereby is repealed and re-enacted to read as follows:
Section 5: On any day except legal holidays, as defined in
Remington Rand's Revised Statutes, Section 61, between the hours of
8 a. m., and 6 p. m., when any vehicle shall be parked next to a park-
ing meter, the owner or operator of said vehicle shall park within the
area designated by the curb or street marking lines as indicated for
parallel or diagonal parking, and upon entering said parking space shall
immediately deposit in said meter a five cent coin of the United States
for the maximum legal parking limit, and/or a one cent coin .of the
United States for one-fifth of the maximum legal parking limit. It shall
be unlawful for any person so parking a vehicle to fail or neglect to so

Section 2: That Section Ten of Ordinance #1143, reading as follows:
"Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate or permit, or
allow anyone to violate Section Five (5) or Section Six (6)
of this ordinance shall upon conviction be fined not more than
$1.00 and costs".
be and the same hereby is repealed and re-enacted to read as follows:
Section 10: Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate or
permit, or allow anyone to violate Section Five (5) or Section Six (6)
of this ordinance shall upon conviction be fined not more than $ 25.00
and costs.
Section 3: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect five
days from and after its passage,.approval and legal publication as
provided by law.
