SUBJECT: January 2013 Sales Tax Distribution (November 2012 Activity)
This year starts strong with January sales tax receipts (for November 2012 activity) totaling $1.4million.
This equates to $193k (14%) over the January budget and $293k (22%) over 2012. The comparison to 2012 is a bit
misleading as January 2012 included an audit adjustment of $132k within the Transportation Manufacturing sector;
excluding the adjustment, 2013 is $161k (11%) over 2012.

Key Variances:
• The Manufacturing sector change from 2012 to 2013 is skewed by an audit adjustment in January 2012 for prior year
reported activity. Excluding this one-time reduction, this sector comes in at $20k (31%) over 2012.
• The Construction sector is largely responsible for January’s strong showing. There are several major projects underway
both in Building Construction and Heavy and Civil projects – each category coming in $50k over 2012.
