MI�.INS FOR V�ta.TER SUPPLY PURPOSES IN CERT9IN STREETS OF THE CITY
OF RENTQN:
The City Council of the City of Rer�.ton do ordair; as
follows:
SECTION I: That there is hereby granted to Defense
Plant Corporation, a corporation created pursuant to an Act of
Congress entitled �tReconstruction Finance Corporation Act«, approved
January 22, 1932, as amended, �.ts successors and assigns, on �he
' eonditions sct forth in Sec�ion II hereof, a franchise to construct,
reconstruct, maintai.n and operate two water mai.ns for �rater supply
purposes over and along the following streets in the City of
Renton, .
. (a) Two water mains, one on each side of the
street, on tne follov�ing streets: On Tobin Street
bet�een the �resterly line of the Northern Pacific
Railway right of way and Lo�an Street; and on Logan
Street south from Tobin Street to the south line of
the right of way of the City of Sea.ttle pipe line
right of way, being approximately sixty. (60) feet
north of Third Avenue in the City of R�ton; said water
mains shall be constructed, one on the east side of
� said Logan Street, and one on the west side thereof,
and one on the north side of said Tobin Street, and one
on th.e sauth side thereof; the east side of the water
main on the east side of said Logan Street to be three
feet and six inches west of the west line of the park-
ing strip on the east sid� of said street, and the v�est
side of tne main on the �rest side of said Logan Stree�
to be two (2} feet east of the east line of the parking
strip on the west side of said Logan Street. The north
5ide of the water main on the north side of Tobin Street
to be t�ro (2) feet south of the south line of the park-
ing strip on the north siae of said Tobin Street; and
the south side of the water main ta be constructed on
the south side of said Tobin Street to be two (2,� �eet
north of the north line of the parking strip an. the
south side of Tobin Street, the two water mains on said
vog�.n Street,,� and the t�o water mains on said Tobin
Street to be connected with a proper connection; said
water �nains to be laid at such depth as wi'll nat inter-
fere with the water, gas mains and city sewers now in
said streets;

(b) Also tv�o water mains in a northwesterly -
southeasterly direction over and across Coal Street
and V�illiams Street North in Adsitts Lake Washington
Plat, within 200 feet of the northeast eorner af said
Adsitts Lake Washing�on Plat, the �xact location
thereof x�ot having been determined at this time, the
' location of the said two water mains when eonstructed
to be the permanent location thereof under the terms
and provisions of this franehise.
SECTION II - CONDITIONS:
(a) The said franchise shall . terminate ninety-nine
years from the passage and approval of the Ordinance.
(b) Vdhere said proposed water mains cross any street ,�
or sidewalk, the excavation made by the grantee in laying said � �
water ma.ins shall be so bridged that said streets shal.l at all
times he open to travel by pedestrians and vehicles, and said
sidewalks open to travel by pedestra.ans. VVYiere said water mains
are along any street, the entire width of s�ch stree-t shall be
kept free fram obstructior�, and open to travel, except that portion
to be occupied by the �iater mai.n trenches. Suitable guards shall
be placed and maintained to protect vehicles and pedestrians from
injury by reason of the excavation. Al1 �Tater mains, gas mains,
and se�rers, and all service lines or mains now in place in any of
- the streets on which excavations are made, shall be allowed to re-
I main in their resent loeation, or if injured or. destroyed,, shall

be replaced by the grantee, or an equal substitute provided therefor.
(c) AlI material removed from excavations not required
for the refill thereof shall be deposited on the streets of the City
of Renton by the grantee as directed by an inspector to be appoint-
�
ed by the �ayor of the City of Renton. The services af said in-
spector appointed as above provided, shall be paid by the grantee
at the rate of Five (�5•��) Dollars pe� day for time actually ',
employ'�d.

(d) lTpon the com.pletion of the work herein contem-
plated, the surface of all streets in which excavations are �ade,
shall be restored by the grantee to their present grade, as
directed by said inspector.
(e) Al1 work contemplated by� this franchise to be
do�e by the grantee ,shall be prosecuted without delay, and v�ith
all reasonable dispatch.
(f) Al1 rep�.irs to be made hereafter on said pipe line
within the streets herein designated, shall be ma.de under the
direetion of the Street Superintendent of the City of Renton,
Washington, and the grantee shall r�store the surface of any
s�reet upon which excavations are r�ade to the same condition it
was in prior to the making of such repairs.

{g) . The gran�Gee agrees to save and keep harmless the City
of Renton. from any loss or damage su�tained by abutting property
o�ners, or by any other person, occasioned by the exercise� of the
rights granted hereby.
SECTION III: This 4rdinance shall "be in full force
an.d effeet five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and ,
le.g�,l publication, as pro�tided by lav�. �
