Section 1: Second Hand Dealer Defined: Any person who,
• within the City of Renton, 'iTashington, shall as a business, engage
in the purchase, sale, trade, barter or exchange of second-Yrand
goods, other than "junk" as defined i�n this ordinance.
Section II: Second Hand 1�ealerts License Fee: It shall be
unlawful for any person to engage in the business of seconcl-hand
dealer wz.thout first procuring a license so to do, to be known
as a Secon.d-Hand Dealer's License!" The fee for such second-hand
dealer's license shall be, and the same is hereby fixed at Tuventy-
f ive (�25.00} '�ollars per year.
An.y person having more than one place of business vrhere
second-hand goods are bought, sold, '�raded, bartered or exchanged,
' shall be required to procure a separ�.te license �or each and every
such place of business.
Section I2I: Second-�iand Dealers may change location. A
second-hand dealer's license shall not be transferable from one
person to another, but the licensee may, upon voritten application to
the City Clerk, have his license transferred to a new location in
' the City and the change of address shall be noted on the license,
together v,rith the date on which the chan�e was made.
Section IV: Second-Nand Dealers to keep records : Every
Second-Hand �ealer shall keep a book in which he shall at the ti�.ne
of purchase of any second-hand goods, enter in the Engla.sh language,
Umitten in in�, a full and accurate description of such goods so
bought, together v,rith the name, apparent age, si�nature and residence
of the vendor, and if the vendor shall be a minor, a statement of the
fact, and also the amount paid and the date and hour o�' purchase,
and said book, as well as every article �or thing �urchased, shall at
all reasonable times be open to inspection. by the Chief of Police or
any �olice Ofiicer of the City.
Section V; Secor_c�hand goods to be ke�t ten (10) days :
Second-Hand �oods��of� a�iy> �ird�and descriptian bought or received by
a second-hand dealer, must be held at least, ten (10) days bePore
they are sold or offered for sale, �xcept when the goods have been
inspected by the members of the Police Department designated for
that purpose and they have authorized the second-hand dealer to
dispose of such goods within a less period than ten (10) days.
Section VI: Daily Transcript of R�cord to be delivered to the
Chief' of Police: Every second-hand dealer shall make out and deliver
to the Chief' of Folice, at the hour of noon of each day, a copy of' the
entries and transactions contained in the book of records relating to
the business of the previous day.

Section VII: Purchasing second-hand goods from minors ;
In case second-hand goods are bought or received from any minor
the second-hand dealer, his employee or agent, buying or receiv-
ing such articles of value, shall demand and receive of' such
minor a written authority Prom the person owning such articles,
givin� full authority to such minor to sell the same, and such
written authority shall be received and placed on file by the
person receiving such goods and be a part of the record of such
transaction.
Section VIII: Any per�on who shall violate any pro-
vision of this ordinance, shall be gui?ty of a misdemeanor, and
upon conviction thereof, sha11 be punished by a fine of not
less than One dollar (�1.00) nor more than One hundred dollars
��100.00) or imprisonment not to exceed 90 days.
Section IX: This ,�rdinance shall be in �ull foree and
effect five days from and after its passage, approval and
legal publication.
