Absent: Ellie Simpson, excused Evelyn Reingold Staff: Peter Renner, Vincent Orduna, Diane Wagner Apri14, 2007 � 8:00 am � 7th Floor, Council Conference Room, Renton City Hall The meeting was called to order at 8:10 am by Chair Pat Pepper. SPECIAL GUEST Bill Collins - Visitor Liz Stewart- Museum Steve Thomas � TSA Architects Mayor Kathy Keolker-The Mayor attending the meeting and briefly discussed the Arena, property zones, current tax situation, traffic concerns, Seahawks Stadium, downtown renovations, and the Landing. A few questions were answered by the Mayor regarding the protecting/preserving of the vintage houses in downtown Renton and the possibility of 1% for arts at the Landing. The Arts Commission appreciated the Mayor's time and thanked her for attending the meeting. MINUTE APPROVAL The minutes were approved with one correction. Item#7 on 2°d page, add"display windows". Mike i O'Halloran motioned to accept minutes as corrected, seconded by Britt, motion passed. BUDGET REVIEW Peter Renner advised nothing new with budget at this time. CORRESPONDENCE Miscellaneous flyers were passed around for review. Britt was featured in an article in the Renton Reporter, which was also passed around. GUESTS l. Liz Stewart from the Renton Historical Museum passed around the new newsletter and advised the Commission of current events. 2. Steve Thomas,TSA Architects, attended the meeting to propose RMAC involvement 2°d&Main Apartments. Maps were passed around and discussions followed. Mike O'Halloran made a motion for RMAC to participate in this project, seconded by Britt Pederson, motion passed. It was agreed to investigate the project further before committing to participation. Peter mentioned it would be the responsibility of the RMAC to make recommendation to Council for their final approval on participation. Mike O'Halloran revised his motion to work with the developer on this project, Britt seconded, motion passed unanimously. Sculpture garden: Peter discussed the sculpture art at Coulon with Leslie Betlach and was told they intentionally left a portion of the part untouched but suggested an area near the log boom across from Senior Center. 2. Commission Appointment needs to be advertised. Diane will work with City Clerk's Office to get this going. 3. Pool Dedication is tentatively June 2. No confirmation yet from Duwamish Tribe. 4. Britt is excited to work on the Talent Show. 5. Guest Artists at Carco: status quo. Price sheets now available in the office. 6. Sustained Support Grant coming up and this is a big one. Peter will check on names and how much it may costs to hire a grant writer and report back. 7. Heritage Park Art Dedication is tentatively scheduled for mid June. Art is at Facilities Shop waiting good weather for installation. Mike O'Halloran is going to order the weather vane. 8. A motion was made to reimburse Kristi Hand for funds spent for the 4Culture meeting last month, Pat Riggs second, motion carried. NEW BUSINESS 1. VJ discussed recent activities. 2. Mike O'Halloran will be providing new art for the empty Council Conference Room wall.
