SUBJECT: Jones Park Play Equipment Replacement

Project Narrative:
• Jones Park Play Equipment Replacement
• Size: 49620 SF.
• 102 Wells Ave South
• The work to be preformed is to 'remove the old play equipment and
surfacing to meet present day standards and codes. This will involve
removal of the existing metal equipment and some portions of the
concrete curb that contains the fall surfacing. We will reinstall the new
curbs matching existing curbs, purchase new equipment to meet fall zone
requirements and provide new fall surfacing that meets the American with
Disabilities Act.
• The basis for our request is, the Play Equipment that exists presently is
unusable to the public due to the new clearance and fall surface codes for
play equipment installation. The new equipment will meet the codes as
well as the ADA regulations. Most of the apparatus has been closed to
prevent injury.
• The construction period will be from March 04 until July 04. The time
frame is due to the ordering of the play equipment.
• No other permits will be required. ,
• The site will remain as a park.
• There is the Cedar River running along the northerly boundary of the
park. The location of the play equipment will remain in the same location.
• The soil will not be altered outside of the play area borders.
• The estimated cost of the project will be $30,000 for site work and
$40,000 for play equipment and installation for a total of $70,000.
• Quantities of material that will be removing will be approximately 30 yards
of sand used for the underlayment in the existing space. Wood fiber
materials will replace the sand.

• The distance to the. Cedar River is roughly 100 feet.
FEB 2 6 2004. The existing shoreline has rock gabions and a sidewalk and water viewing
area along side the shore. RECEIVED. The project will not exceed the 35 feet above the existing grade.
