PROJECT NAME: Riverview Park Bridge Repair/Painting
PROPOSAL: The applicant seeks a Shoreline Exemption to renovate and
repaint an existing bridge over the Cedar River that provides access for
Riverview Park. The scope of the project includes removal and replacement of
existing railing, removal of wood decking and replacement with concrete deck,
removal of wood supports and concrete abutments and replacement with
concrete poured footings, removal of the existing paint and rust from the i-beams
following required lead paint abatement procedures, and repainting of the
structure. No materials will enter the river and no work will occur in the water.

DATES OF PROPOSED WORK: The work is planned to start shortly and be
completed later in the year. However, depending on the complexities of any lead
paint abatement, the project may be completed as late as September of 2006.
CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL: A Temporary Erosion Control Plan must be
submitted to and approved by Public Works Plan Review Supervisor Kayren
Kittrick (425-430-7299) prior to starting work.
An exemption from a Shoreline Management Substantial Development Permit is
hereby granted on the proposed project described on the attached form for the
follo~ reason(s}:

Project Narrative for Riverview Park Bridge Repair Project
1. Repair the wood decking and footings for the access bridge to the park.
Description: To pull the existing railing off and reinstall, remove wood decking and
replace with a concrete deck. Remove wood supports and concrete abutments and replace
with concrete poured footings.
2. Remove the paint and rust from the I-beams, the paint removal will require lead
abatement procedures meeting all applicable codes.
Basis for exemption: The project is a repair and maintenance, the structural item will
remain and no work will be done in the water No materials will enter the river.
Work shall stat summer of2005 and be completed by the 2006.
Permits required: We are determining if a Hydraulic Permit is required from Department
of Fisheries.
Cost Estimate $150,000
Shoreline is high bank.
No trees will be removed from the area.
There shall be no fill required. The only excavation will be for the spread footings that
are away from the riverbank.
