CITYCLER.K'SQFFIC� President pro-tem, Douglas Gregory, called the meeting to order at 10:03 A.M. Attendance was taken. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as corrected. TREASURER'S REPORT—Treasurer, Rose Warren, reported the following: Bank Statement $12,069.28 Emergency fund 203.36 Petty Cash 20.23 Forgotten Badge fund 6.00 June Interest 4.92 SENIOR SERVICES COORDINATOR'S REPORT—Shawn Daly • Shawn introduced Lynn Bohart from the Renton Community Foundation. Lynn reviewed and explained the Community Foundations' function in the Renton community. An update on the Ikuta Endowed Fund shows a gain of$34,353.65 since creation. Lynn indicated fees will rise this year from 1.0%to 1.5%. A revised fee schedule was handed out showing fees are based on the size and/or type of fund. • Sylvester Cugini donated a check in the amount of$2,000 in memory of his mother Emma Cugini. This donation helps cover the cost of Bingo. • On Thanksgiving Day the Rotary Club will provide dinner to 250 seniors, spending$1,200. I have E-mail going to all city employees asking for volunteers to assist in activities in the building. Gift certificates are used for all activities/games. Requesting$400 to purchase gift certificates. It was moved by Ben Cheney, second by Mary Lou Gilbert to contribute $400 to purchase gift certificates from Safeway. Motion Carried. • After the first of the year looking into replacing signs to the front entrances. John Slaney, Parks Supervisor, pointed out the wooden signs are rotten and falling apart. Cost will be approximately$2,800 to replace. • Two weeks ago I took a van full of volunteers to the RSVP Volunteer Banquet. One of our volunteers, Grace Hanson was recognized as a Volunteer of the Year. Grace volunteered over ten years and put in 9,000 hours of service; she runs the coffee bar and volunteers in the Nutrition Program. What was written about her stated: "As nominee of the year, Graces' natural ability to truly care about the people she serves, coupled with her dedication to the Senior Center, makes Grace a one in a million volunteer." Grace received a nice plaque and was recognized. • Received a written letter from Fern Ziebell stating she is resigning at the end of the year. � The interview committee consisting of Mary Brown, Mary Ann Ellingson and Douglas Gregory, Inter viewed the four applicants; Shawn had the job reading and asking the questions; committee did all the scoring. This is the first time we had four excellent applicants from start to finish. One question asked each candidate, "Would they be willing to step in as secretary; all replied, yes." Until approved by the Mayor the r� � committee recommended the fo�ing: Sandra Po(ley will rep(ace Edie � Lawyer, position #12; Pat Baylor � will replace Jane Goodwin, positian #15; and, Darothy Cook, replace Fern Ziebetl, position #1. It was moved by Mary Lou Gilbert and second by Elaine Koehler to refer committee's recommendations on to the Mayor as read. Motion Carried. • In January Mayor will renew board members and renew afficers that may have changed positians. The following officers were nominated and vated on for the up-caming year: President ---- Ben Cheney Vice-President ---- Mary B. Brown Secretary ---- Marjarie Cochran-Reep Treasurer ---- Rose Warren It was maved by Mary Burns-Haley and second by Rase Warren that the nominations be c(osed and that the slate af officers, as presented, be accepted. Mation Carried. The foilowing corrrmittee members are to be renewed in 2011: Mary Lou Gilbert, Mary B. Brown, Ben Cheney, Ruby Griffin and Fern ziebel('s replacement Dorothy Coak. • Starting today a survey is being put out an how we are meeting people's needs. This will run thraugh the month of November. RECREATION DlRECTOR'5 REPQRT---Tim Williams • A piggy back on what Shawn said on the survey. We are going ta run that same survey twice a year, Navernber and April/May. This survey will capture "tnformation for reaccreditatian. * Thursday, Novernber 4, is the interactive workshop for the Park & Recreationa) Open Space Master Plan,from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Rer�tan Cammunity Center Banquet Room. • Mayor submitted his budget on Octaber 25. RECREATIC3N COORDINATOR—Debbie Little • Dog Behavior Workshop on 11/2 from 1:00-2:U0 P.M. • Ann Stragier, ceramics instructor,filled her spat with Dorothy Cook. • National Candy Day is on 11/4; contest 11:00 AM; play, "Name the Candy Bar."; guess from the clue, win named candy bar. + Pabla Picasso exhibition; (unch at the Qld Spaghetti Factory;Thurs., 11/5,frorrt 20:3Q-4.30 PM. * Employees of Loca! 2170 sponsored a free pancake breakfast on C?ctaber 16. The employees commerzted on the numbers being rea! law compared to ather years.They want to keep suppo�ting the seniors but question direction ta go. One eamment was transportation is an issue for seniors getting ta the pancake breakfast. Discussion and comments wifl be referred by Debbie to the Union emp(ayees.
