Attendance was taken. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as corrected. Ben Cheney questioned the usage of president pro tem. Mary Burns-Haley said she thought that pro was for and tem was time—for the time being. Marjorie Cochran-Reep will check with Bonnie Watson, City Clerk, for clarification of pro tem. TREASUER'S REPORT—Treasurer, Rose Warren, reported the following: Bank Statement $12,963.63 Emergency Fund 203.25 Petty Cash 20.23 Forgotten Badge Fund 6.00 Interest for April 3.73 SENIOR SERVICES COORDINATOR'S REPORT—Shawn Daly • Received notification that Jane Goodwin passed away on Friday, May 14. She suffered the last several months with cancer. lane's daughter was happy that we did not remove Jane from the Advisory Board; it gave her mother hope of coming back to the committee. • Our secretary, Kathy Svedin, is putting together a "Memory Connections" folder for Edie-Mae to help her connect faces with names as part of her rehabilitation therapy. Each page will be a picture, name and short personal "Remember When We ..." story. This will be a treasure for her to read during those long boring hours. • I want to thank this committee for being hostesses, ticket takers, ushers, etc. at the Carco Revue, it made my job easier. We changed the focus of the senior show over the years'. In the beginning it was a showcase of groups performing at the center. It gradually changed allowing individuals to sing, dance or whatever they wanted to do;this year there were performances from seniors who do not attend the center. We need to evaluate whether to open the carco show up to any senior who wants to perform or go back to only those attending the senior center. Attendance was 180 per show, previous years had over 250. • Debbie and I met with Michael Nolan, our planner for the City of Renton. If you recall we discussed remodeling the Library; it was put on hold; now back in Michael's hands. We met with Mike on Friday and he asked what we would like to see in the Library. He is now working on it and drawing up diagrams. This project not costing the city; money made available from the Ikuta Will donation. Planning for construction to take place during the two weeks the Center is closed in September for maintenance. Debbie Little is on a hike to "Cougar Mountain Wildland Park." • Eric Eastberg asked if the Ikuta inheritance had any action on it. Shawn said the inheritance of $600,000 was put into the Renton Community Foundation; they invest the money in the stock market; and, proud to announce the money has grown to $624,000.00. The "Will" was specific and to be used for programs here at the senior center. COMMENTS: Mary Burns-Haley said Edie-Mae Lawyer called her on the telephone; heard that Mary's sister had passed away and was upset about that. She talked very rationally and I asked her when are you coming back, she said, "tomorrow." I spoke to Gene a few days before and he said she has absolutely no memory of the past; it doesn't clink in at all. Douglas Gregory—Have a lot of seniors ask when the coffee bar door is going to get painted. Shawn will check with maintenance again. Douglas said "Farmers Market" will open June 1. The meeting was adjourned by President pro tem, Douglas Gregory, at 10:50 a.m. __.( ^ -- " ;_ E ' \ Secretary, Marorie Cochran-Reep President pro tem, Douglas Gregory
