MEMBERS PRESENT: Mary Burns-Haley, Ben Cheney, Marge Cochran-Reep, Mary Ann Ellingson,
Mary Lou Gilbert, Douglas Gregory, Ruby Griffin, Elaine Koehler, Edie-Mae Lawyer, Emilie McCue, Fern
Ziebell.
EXCUSED: Mary Brown, Eric Eastberg,Jane Goodwin, Rose Warren.
STAFF: Shawn Daly, Debbie Little,Terry Higashiyama.
President, Edie-Mae Lawyer, called the meeting to order at 10:03 A.M. Attendance was taken.
Terry Higashiyama swore in the following officer and renewed a board member for a new term.

President, Edie-Mae Lawyer, asked for an audit report. Mary Lou Gilbert indicated the Audit
Committee met,went over records and agree with the bank statements.
SENIOR SERVICES COORDINATOR'S REPORT—Shawn Daly
• Jerry Rerecich retired officially last month with a going away party Friday,lanuary 29.
• In December 2009, staff conducted a survey with two objectives: How we are doing in
Customer Service and Programs. All-in-all surveys look real good. Shawn will sit down with staff and go over
surveys. Surveys were handed out to board members. One of the reasons we did this is for the accreditation,
which requires taking a survey. The other is for our own staff knowledge.
• Footcare program ended in December, 2009, with previous provider, Head-To-Toes, who was unable to
abide to the contract. I am happy to announce last week we sat down with a lady that had extremely high
recommendations from other senior centers in south King County. She is very much in demand. We decided at
this point to go with her. She will start sometimP in March. She needs to obtain a business license, background
check,contracts and insurance. Unfortunatefy, she will only be able to work a haif a day until she hires another
person.
• February 15 is Presidents' Day. Every year we are officially open with the exception of the Nutrition
Program. This presents a problem because no lunches are served. We have a solution this year by serving a free
breakfast brunch from 10:00-11:30 A.M.;this is drop-in,tickets required. A local retirement home, Farrington
Court,will be sponsoring this event—titled, blueberry pancake brunch.
• Next Board Meeting scheduled for February 15. Committee discussed whether to meet or attend
Blueberry Pancake Brunch. Ruby GrifFin entertained a motion in lieu of a meeting on February 15; Board
Members participate in the Blueberry Pancake Brunch. It was seconded by Douglas Gregory. Motion carried.
• Staff recommends at this point redoing the Library. It is desperately in need of help and remadeling!
We plan turning it over to the Consulting Firm that did our color coordination throughout the building. Our
vision is to have N mounted above fireplace,cabinets for puzzles,working fireplace, remove trophy cabinet and
new furniture. Expenses drawn from the Ikuta estate—December statement shows a balance of$624,043.111.
