RENTON PLANNING COMMISSION
Meeting Minutes
February 3, 2010 Renton City Hall
6:00 p.m. Council Chambers
Planning Commissioners Present: Lisa Brines, Michael Chen, Michael Drollinger, Ray Giometti, Gwendolyn High,
Nancy Osborn, Kevin Poole, Ed Prince
City Staff Present: Chip Vincent, Planning Director; Angie Mathias, Associate Planner
1. CALL TO ORDER: Commission Chair Giometti called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL: Commission Secretary Brines called roll. Commissioners Chen and Prince arrived late.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: MOVED BY OSBORN, SECONDED BY CHEN to approve the minutes of January 20,
2010 as written
4. CORRESPONDENCE RECEIVED: None
5. AUDIENCE COMMENTS: None
6. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS: None
7. DIRECTOR’S REPORT:
Staff is moving forward with the process to fill the Commission’s vacancy. Staff and Commission Chair
Giometti reviewed the current applications and forwarded a recommendation to the Mayor.
A joint meeting of the Planning & Development Committee and the Planning Commission is being
scheduled to discuss the 2010 Work Program. More information to follow.
The final meeting with stakeholders regarding the Shoreline Master Program was held today. Items
discussed during these meetings have been incorporated in the revised draft.
8. DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS (TITLE IV) AMENDMENTS PUBLIC HEARING:
#D‐36: Procedure for Fees
Angie presented this docket item. Staff recommends that the School Impact Mitigation Fee be collected at
the rate that is in place at the time of building permit issuance, rather than the rate that is in place at the
time of plat approval. Staff further recommends that a code interpretation (CI‐07) regarding School Impact
Mitigation Fees for ADUs be charged the same rate as Multi‐Family units is codified.
9. URBAN & COMMUNITY FORESTRY DEVELOPMENT PLAN PRESENTATION:
Terry Flatley, Urban Forestry & Natural Resources Manager, from the City’s Community Services
Department ‐ Planning & Natural Resources Division, made a presentation regarding the City’s Urban &
Planning Commission Minutes

Community Forestry Development Plan. It is because of the quantity, quality, and value the urban
forest represents that the Urban and Community Forestry Development Plan was prepared for creating
a sustainable and exemplary urban forest to enhance the livability of the community.
10. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS: The next meeting will be on February 17, 2010.
11. ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
