RENTON MUNICIPAL ARTS COMMISION MINUTES Renton City Hall
Conferencing Center(7th Floor)

Guests: Chip Vincent, Economic Development/Planning Department
City Staff present:lennifer Spencer, Park Department
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 4:35PM
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: COMMISSIONER BRITT MCKENZIE PRESENTED THE MINUTES FOR September
2013. Approved as corrected.
CORRESPONDENCE AND ANNOUNCEMENTS: Britt McKenzie passed around the correspondence folder
for individual review.
Additional announcements
Film Frenzy happens the week of October 22"d. A showing of all films will be at the

� Renton Civic Theater on Saturday October 19
with the Curvee Gala and awards
, On October 22"d at IKEA Performing Arts Center at 7pm
Allied Arts Family Concert with the Seattle Philharmonic Symphony will be at IKEA
On October 20, 2pm.Ticket prices are very reasonable so familes may attend.
Renton Civic Theater second show of the season "Then There Were None" opens

Chip Vincent gave us a short summary of the progress of the transition in staff for the Arts Commission
following Jennifer Davis Hayes recent departure from the City staff.
He told us the Arts Commission will be moved from the Economic Development division to the Planning
Division. The new liaison will be Elizabeth Higgins. She happened to be on vacation this week, but will
meet with Britt next week for orientation to all our projects. She has a degree in art from the Universitiy
of Washington and is very excited to being assigned to the Arts Commission.

Mr.Vincent explained that the Planning Department has much experience in Community Planning and
he thinks they will be a big help to RMAC. He also stated that art is the quality and life of a city.

GAP lighting project:
Since lennifer left this committee has not been active. Mitch is lead and will be

Fall Equinox
We received a letter from Allied Arts saying they will no longer be participating as
co sponsors of the Equinox project. They do not feel It is effective in getting information
to the public We had a long discussion and Britt asked us to send her by email constructive
criticism and your opinion of whether we should continue these events.
NEW BUSINESS
Retreat
November 9th has been decided to as the date for the retreat.The location is unknown at
this time.Time will be 1pm. Guest will be Elizabeth Higgins. Please send Britt any ideas
for discussion and goals for 2014. [Note:the Retreat was later rescheduled to November 16tn]
ADJOURNMENT:October 1, 2013 meeting was adjourned at 6:30 pm. The next meeting will be held
November 5th 2013 in the Renton City Hall Conferencing Center(7th Floor)at 4:30 pm.
