Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as carrected. ! TREASURER'S REPC)RT—Treasurer, Rose Warren, reported the foliowing: , Bank Statement $24,109.75 Emergency Fund 203.25 Petty Cash 20.23 Forgotten Badge Fund b.00 SENIOR SERVICES COORDINATQR'S REPORT—Shawn Daly • Shawn introduced new cammittee member, Pat Baylar. Pat was asked to say a little abaut herself. ', • Requesting$350 towards the purchase of desserts for the Vo{unteer Dessert Party an December 8. � Profits fram the saie ofi cafFee and danuts from the Craft Bazaar, Kiwanis Club's donation of$200 and $60 danation from tiilian Fornelia helps toward the purchase of desserts; still in need of additional funds. It was moved by Ben Cheney, second by Mary Burns-Na1ey to provide an additional$350 for the Volunteer Dessert Party. Motion carried. • Valunteer Party is Wednesday, December 8,from 2:00-4:00 PNl. The last two years the Volunteer Party was downsized. Traditiona!!y a dinner was served costing abaut$2,OQ0. It's important that we continue the dinner in the future. With the economy, it was recomrnended last year to have a dessert social and will do it again this year. tt's a nice afternaon uvith entertainment and desserts. + There was a request to trim trees along the walkway near the handicap as you come in the front entrance;that was completed last week. * We were virtually closed the week of Thanksgiving because of snow; and probably the only city site that had tractors and trucks sanding the parking lot. They rea(ly take care of the Senior Cente�. John Slaney and the maintenance crew deserve a lat af credit. • Weather policy...we depend on what the Renton 5chool District does; if the school district cancels their programs, alf our programs are cancelled. The anly exception is staff has tQ be at the Senior Center to apen doa�s. • Snow caused a dilemma this year. On Thanksgiving Day it snowed and the day be#ore. The day before was the Senior Services meal, cancelled due to snow. Cher sold 180 tickets. If holding a lunch ticket three options are available ...1) refund, 2)ticket fc�r anather day,or, 3) use ticket far the Christmas meal. On Thanksgiving Day dinner, Kt�ms served 260 people; 275 tickets were handed out. Overal) it was very successful. �����`,� • Ben Cheney inquired about name badgestfor the new committee members. Shawn will check into obtaining new badges for aii members; current badges are old and outdated. � - - - - - - ---- � � � RECREATION COORDINATOR— Debbie Little +� Debbie asked if anyone attended Clam Lights Friday night. fVo one attended due to lack of parking ' spaces. !t was a beautiful night and we!! attended. Shawn was Santa; and,they hatl hay rides. � Saturday was the Chris#mas tree {ighting at the Piazza. Wear a hat you receive a gift and best hat wins a prize. Dessert donated by Farrington Court. • Renton Gives part af the City af Renton Employees have come up with a calendar that has pictures of ! Rentan. Calendars sold far$10 and a!I proceeds go tflwards the Renton Salvation Army. I fJRAL Ct3MMUNICAT1C1M5: Mary Burns-attended the Thanksgiving Day dinner for the first time. Five of us came down together and I was impressed. I made it a point to talk to Greg Tay(or, Rick Zwicker and King Parker and tell them how much I i appreciated the fact that the budget was not c�at. Last Manday 12 of our Leisure Estate Chorale went over to Burien ta the Rehab Center and sang for Edie-Mae Lawyer. We made arrangernents and had the dining room at 2.00 PM. There weren't tao many people but as soon as we started singing Christmas carals, boy they started caming in with wheelchairs and walkers. Gene said Edie-Mae sang for the first time since her accident. Ben Cheney asked i#the tealc in the roof was r�soived. Shawn said he received an e-mail stating a roc�f expert was sent aver and#ound someth'rng on the roof line,they caulked it hoping tha#wil! solve the probfem. Hs�w are the plans corning far remodeling the Library Lounge? Shawn indicated he received a ca{# last week stating they are in the finai stages with a design;will meefi with staff and then make a presentation to the Advisory Committee.
